Here at Makeup.com, we are lucky enough to have a panel of experts sound off on topics relating to all-things beauty. Today we asked makeup artist, to share her pro tips on how to tackle the effects fall weather has on your beauty routine.

Like anything else, fall has its pros and cons.

Pros: Black cherry lipstick, spiced lattes, cozy knits, knee-high boots, and all burgundy everything. Oh, plus you're that much closer to the holidays. Unfortunately, the cons involve dry, rough skin, chapped lips, frizzy hair and a summer makeup routine that's all but useless. No more focusing on controlling oil-it's time to moisturize like there's no tomorrow! Below you'll find my tips on how to deal with the repercussions of Mother Nature, all while remaining on top of your beauty game!

Beauty Hack #1. Smooth Static with Hair Sheets

Make dryer sheets your new BFF this fall. Not only do they remove static from hair and even clingy slips, but they're also great for stashing in your boots or rain gear to absorb any unwanted smells. Kérastase specifically formulated hair Smoothing Sheetsto control static and smooth away frizz and flyaways-just throw a few in your purse so you're always ready to tackle the static!

Beauty Hack #2. Exfoliate Skin Regularly

Dry skin is one of the biggest skin concerns come fall, which is why exfoliating is so important. For those who have not been exfoliating, there's no better time to start than now! I recommend using a gentle enzyme scrub (I love Kiehl's Pineapple Papaya Facial Scrub) and ease into it. Always try a patch test on the inside of your elbow-aka your elbow pit -rather than your face to see if you are sensitive to a certain product. For those who love to exfoliate, step up your game with the Clarisonic Mia Cleansing Brush. Use this daily with your go-to cleanser-not only does it clean better than hands alone, but it will gently exfoliate dead skin, which tends to accumulate quicker in the fall and winter months.

Beauty Hack #3. Don't Skip Moisturizer

Moisturize! If you don't regularly, start immediately. You'd be surprised by how many people skip this step in their skin care routine. Because cooler air holds less moisture, your skin is likely to feel dry and dehydrated-which can also make fine lines and wrinkles become more visible.

For body, I recommend using Kiehl's Creme de Corps after taking a shower or bath to lock in moisture. For face, I recommend using the Midnight Recovery Concentrate because it's loaded with nourishing oils. Just add two or three drops to cleansed skin and gently press and massage it into your cheeks, forehead and chin. Eye cream is also extremely important, and I splurge on the Giorgio Armani Crema Nera Reviving Eye Cream, which illuminates and contours the eye area and is enriched with age-defying ingredients.

Beauty Hack #4. Use a Hydrating Makeup Primer

'Tis the season to swap your oil-control primer for a moisturizing one. While you may use your current primer strictly in areas that remain oily (like your T-zone), make sure to use a moisturizing primer for the rest of your face. This will prevent the product from breaking up, or flaking away. Try the NYX Cosmetics Hydra Touch Primer, which smoothes makeup while hydrating and refreshing your complexion.

Beauty Hack #5. Exfoliate & Protect Lips

To keep your lips soft during colder months, run your toothbrush with water or coconut oil over them gently every night to exfoliate. Apply a thick lip balm to your lips before bed and in the morning, make sure to drink a glass of water before you do anything else! Hang on to your lip balm during the day to prevent dry, cracked lips.

Beauty Hack #6. Use a Damp Makeup Sponge

Trying to apply foundation to dry skin can leave you with flakes and visible dry patches. Before applying any product to your skin, use a clean, wet makeup sponge and rub it over your face. This will help remove dry skin before you even start. Then, follow with your moisturizer and apply primer, foundation, BB cream, or tinted moisturizer immediately after with the damp sponge. Then set your makeup with a hydrating mist like Urban Decay to give off a dewy, youthful glow.

Beauty Hack #7. Update Makeup Formulas

Transition into cream or liquid products to help camouflage dry or flaky skin. Layering powder over dry skin will only call attention to any dry spot. Instead, use hydrating cream blushes, lip and cheek stains, and liquid bronzers. In the fall and winter months, I exclusively use Giorgio Armani Maestro Liquid Bronzer and the YSL Baby Doll Kiss and Blush lip and cheek mousse.

Beauty Hack #8. Stay Hydrated

I cannot stress this one enough- drink water! Staying hydrated all-year round truly makes a difference, and trust me, your skin will thank you.
