This is a classic Southern affair in every way! Bride Virginia is the ultimate Southern belle in her cream, off the shoulder Monique Lhuillier gown, and her groom Travis looks oh so handsome in full military dress (isn't there just something about a guy in uniform?) You have got to see the way these two look at each other in their post-ceremony portraits - they really are the sweetest couple. We're not the only ones who think so - Travis' military colleagues honored the couple with a traditional saber arch after their ceremony, and their family and friends formed the civilian version (a sparkler exit!) after their reception!

What inspired you when you were planning your wedding? I looked to a lot of different blogs and magazines, but in the end I usually went with my mother's opinion - timeless.

What advice do you have for other couples in the midst of planning a wedding? Honestly, if something tricky comes up, whether it's the budget getting tight or a vendor being unavailable, and you have to go in a different direction, try to remember why you are doing all of this (I promise in the end you won't even remember your original idea!)

The Ceremony

Why did you choose this location for your ceremony? I grew up attending Christ Church Episcopal every week, so it was hard for me to imagine getting married anywhere else. And it's absolutely beautiful!

What was your ceremony music? Processional: Canon in D by Johann Pachelbel, Trumpet Voluntary by Jeremiah Clarke // Recessional: Ode to Joy by Ludwig van Beethoven.

Your ceremony in three words. Traditional, musical, religious.

Who officiated your ceremony? Reverend Harrison McLeod

How did you go about planning your ceremony? We had a traditional Episcopalian ceremony, including communion. Travis grew up Catholic so having a full communion was important to both of us. We also wanted to create an intimate setting, even with 400 guests, which we tried to accomplish with a candlelit evening ceremony.

What were your ceremony readings? I Corinthians 1-13 and John 15:9-12

What were your vows like? Traditional.

Is there anything else that you'd like to share about your wedding ceremony? We exited the ceremony with a traditional military arch.

The Reception

Why did you choose this location for your reception? Similar to our church, Poinsett Club was somewhere I grew up going, so it felt very familiar to me. Travis was actually my escort to my debutante ball there in 2010! We also knew we wanted an indoor venue for January, and it was so nice not having to worry at all about the weather!

How would you describe your reception? Traditional ball room wedding with southern food and a lot of dancing!

What type of cake or dessert did you serve? Butter cake with salted caramel frosting.

If you had it to do over again, is there anything you would do differently? Maybe have less cake? We had enough cake to feed the city of Greenville!

What was the best advice you received as a bride? Don't leave the dance floor!

Do you have any budget tips for other brides? I would say spend time choosing your vendors and assess what is truly important to you. Also, it wasn't intentional, but we found the winter to be a great time to get married because most vendors are available and more willing to work with your budget.

Is there anything else that helps tell the story of your wedding? Travis and I were equally concerned about the ceremony and the reception. We wanted the focus to be on more than just the fun party, and I think we achieved that - a meaningful ceremony and a really fun party!
