Best of BM 2016: 10 of our Favourite Real Weddings

Best of BM 2016: 10 of our Favourite Real Weddings

via

Oh boy this was a hard post to put together. This week on the blog, we're rounding-up some of our favourite posts from the last 12 months. And today it's all about the real weddings.

The thing is, we share over 100 real weddings every year, and each one of them is pretty special. So whittling them down is, well, impossible.

And this year's weddings took things to a whole other level, they were cool, fun, romantic, stylish, creative, and laden down with ideas. And that's before we talk about the amazing photographers, planners, vendors and of course, couples, who created them.

We had classic weddings filled with florals, mountain-top vows with simple decor, and elopements for two that looked like so much fun.

So rather than call these 'the best' or even 'our favourites', let's just say this line up of real weddings is more like a smorgasbord, a sampler, an overview, of what 2016 was all about for all the brides and grooms who shared their weddings on our blog.

In no particular order...

1. Paula & Adam

Even when I was writing up the post for Paula & Adam's incredible Italian wedding by Cinzia Bruschini, with planning by Sara Pietrelli of Chic Weddings in Italy, way back in February, I was pretty sure it was going to be one of my favourites of the year.

The incredible location, the beautiful al fresco feast, the stylish favours, and one very chic couple. This one still makes us swoon, even months later.

2. Brooke & Lauren

This wedding was such a romantic one, where you could just tell the couple were having the best day ever. We loved how Brooke & Lauren fused New York style with their rustic setting to create a day that was truly personalised (and included their cute pooch!).

Their colour bomb photo session with Jenna Bascom Event & Editorial Photography gave us some of the most memorable portraits of the year.

3. Pilar & José

Another of those weddings that became an instant favourite the minute I set eyes on it, Pilar & José's Spanish wedding in Seville by Lorena San José was just a heavenly blend of style and substance.

Pilar's caped gown was incredible, their reception decor was colourful, yet refined (a hard balance to strike!) and this couple seemed so head over heels in love... I could go on all day!

4. Jade & Mitch

Jade & Mitch's awesome wedding in Bali by Terralogical Photography makes us smile at the mere thought of it. Not only did it look so fun - this couple were beaming throughout! - but it also had some of the most gorgeous styling and decor we saw all year.

The dresses, the lights, the ceremony set-up, the signage - this is one to get ideas from. Lots of ideas!

5. Kyra & Kale

The first of two Maui nuptials on this list (we could have had about five), Kyra & Kale's traditional Hawaiian wedding was one of the most meaningful, captivating, and beautiful ceremonies we featured all year.

Their day, captured by Maui Maka Photography and Dmitri & Sandra, with planning by Bliss Wedding Design was very special indeed. Not one easily replicated, it's still work checking out for the magic of it alone!

6. Kayla & Matt

Kayla & Matt had the most chic backyard wedding we've maybe ever seen, with elegant florals, preppy style, and gorgeous details.

For anyone who thinks a wedding at home has to be a basic affair, check out their lobster feast in Maine by Zac Wolf Photography.

7. Freda & Roman

So Freda & Roman's gorgeous wedding was only featured last week, but in that short time, it's still made a big impact - it's one of the prettiest garden weddings we've ever shared. English weddings don't come lovelier than this one!

Captured by Kate from Depict, and planned by Jessie Thomson Weddings & Events, from the style to the setting and the florals to the food, the words sweet, chic and picture-perfect, don't quite do it justice.

8. Jessica & Fred

We've featured a lot of destination weddings on the blog this year, but we were pretty blown away by Jessica & Fred's Lisbon wedding by Studio 1208, just by the sheer effort, thought, and detail put into it. No easy feat when you're planning a wedding from overseas.

Come for the stunning photography, stay for the gorgeous Portuguese tiles, and in the middle be wowed by the elegant style and luxe decor.

9. Laura & Dickie

Another of those weddings that was a personal fave for me, everything about Laura & Dickie's cool tipi wedding in her parent's backyard was right up my street. And lots of you guys thought so too!

The couple's style, the copper laced Scandi decor, the entirely informal feel, and that awesome G&T bar, this fun pair and their photos by Marilyn Bartman Photography left us smiling for days.

10. Jackie & Tom

And last, but most certainly not least was perhaps one of the most colourful celebrations we featured all year, Jackie & Tom's awesome Hawaiian wedding by Maui Maka Photography.

Laced in tropical decor, bright florals and bold style, their day was equal measures fun, cool, stylish and meaningful. Whether you love the idea of injecting your day, with some colour or simply want a little eye candy, this bash is most definitely worth checking out.

Stay tuned for more round-ups of our favourite posts from 2016 over the next few days.
