Asal and Hamed's wedding at Legion of Honor

Amal and Hamed's San Fransisco wedding at the, always-breathtaking, Legion of Honor is one for the books. The details of the event designed by Kaella Lynn Events are elegant and timeless-like the abundant ceremony florals and greens by Mandy Scott Flowers. Something we really love, though, is the way the couple wove their Persian heritage throughout their day like the bridesmaids carrying Sofreh items in place of bouquets. The family even shipped in a traditional Persian rug for the ceremony isle! Check out all these details and more in these lovely images from the talented Jake and Necia Photography team.

What made the wedding special and unique?

Asal and Hamed's wedding was stylish, romantic, soulful even, and full of personal details that make it truly unique. To honor the couple's Persian heritage, the bridesmaids carried traditional Sofreh items down the aisle instead of bouquets. The family shipped out their traditional Persian runner to line the ceremony. The groom, Hamed, played his bride down the aisle on the Grand Piano and guests were serenaded by a surprise Gospel Choir during dinner.

Tell us how you met and became engaged.

They first met the 18th of May, 2013. Hamed was a hopeful, but uninvited guest, at Asal's birthday party. Hamed persevered and after 3 months and multiple attempts, Asal finally agreed to join him for a cup of tea. Hamed took Asal to Maison Bertaux, the oldest and most romantic cafe in London, where they shared tea and chatted for hours. Dinner time came and they continued at a nearby Italian Restaurant. This was the start of something wonderful. Hamed won Asal's heart very quickly. She even told her dad she had found "the one" after that first date.

The following year on the 18th of May, Hamed got down on one knee at London's Heathrow Airport and presented Asal the most delicious bag of artisan marshmallows... and, of course, a ring too.

Hamed had promised Asal's parents they would wait to be married until she finished writing her PhD. And while he waited, he wrote a very special piece of music to play as his bride walked down the aisle at their wedding.
