Engagement Party Invitations

Engagement parties are such festive celebrations. With the bride still flashing her ring proudly and before the wedding planning stress has begun, this phase is all about the fun. Here are 10 engagement party invites we like, as well as some helpful tips on what to include!

1. Your invitation should match your party.

As a general rule for any party, the level of formality of the invitation of the party should match the party itself. For example, inviting guests to a backyard BBQ bash with a black and gold script invite may not be the best way to make sure your friends and family dress appropriately for the event.

2. Link a wedding website, if you have one.

Nobody should be invited to the engagement party that wouldn't be invited to the wedding, so now is a great time to distribute your wedding website info. If you are hosting your own engagement party, use your wedding website to organize your RSVPs and communicate more details about the event.

3. Don't mention a wedding registry.

Engagement parties are really not supposed to be gift-giving occasions. And even if they were, traditional etiquette suggests that you leave the registry info off the invite. Most guests will bring a token gift either for the couple or for the hostess, but it's really not expected the way it is for a shower or wedding. However, it's fine if you link your wedding website and your website has registry info.

4. Mention the host.

You wouldn't believe how many times an invitation will arrive and somehow the information about the host or hostess is omitted. Remember to put it somewhere on the invite or in the return address. You can simply mention the host in reference to whom to call to RSVP or in the opening line of the invitation.

5. Don't be afraid to get creative.

There are no rules for what kind of party you can host for an engaged couple, so get creative! And you can have an equal amount of fun with the invitations. We love this idea for a personalized balloon invite, shown below.
