As a makeup artist, I tend to get a little particular about certain aspects of makeup ... and this remains true leading up to my wedding day! Here are some of my beauty must-haves:
1. A Good Face Primer:

This is an often overlooked step, but it's especially important in order to keep your makeup looking the best all day. Makeup Forever Step 1 Skin Equalizers are great. They offer multiple options so you can fit the formula to your skin type and concerns, such as reducing redness or absorbing oil. Primer smooths the texture of your skin, like pores and dry patches, and helps your makeup stay on all day.

2. Eyelid Primer:

Eyelid primer will help your eyeshadow colors to stay true and prevent creasing throughout the day. The Urban Decay Primer Potion is a great one, and it comes in different colors so it can be worn alone or give a pretty tone to your eye shadow.

3. Under-Eye Concealer:

The key to concealing dark circles is not just covering, but correcting. You want to find a peach-orange shade of concealer or use a peachy corrector before layering with a flesh-toned concealer. I like NYX Dark Circle Concealer. It's a bargain, for one. It's very smooth and creamy, and it corrects and conceals at the same time.

4. A Fine Finishing Powder:

You want to give your makeup a soft finish to help keep it in place and stay shine free. A pressed powder is usually too cakey for this, so look for a finely-milled powder. A popular one is the Make Up For Ever HD Powder, but I really like Bare Minerals Original Mineral Veil. The Mineral Veil absorbs oil as well to control shine which is important for your big day!

5. Defined Brows:

Brows are back in a big, bushy way. If you're not a big makeup wearer, brows may seem like your last priority, but they really frame your whole face. Without them, your features will looked washed out in photos. Brow gels and pomades are a good way to define and fill in your brows. They are applied with a brush, which allows a more natural look than harsh pencil lines. The original is Anastasia Dipbrow, which is a great pomade and comes in a huge range of colors to match your hair. NYX also has a good, budget-friendly alternative.

6. Lip Liner:

Lip liner is an underrated product! Now, we're not talking 1993 dark purple outline with a nude lipstick, but a lip liner that is slightly darker than your natural lip color. Outline your lips and then fill them in. Yep, lip liner is not just for lining! A lip liner will help your lip color stay on better, and prevent bleeding, but a liner alone with a lip gloss is a great, no-brainer lip look. The lip liner will stay all day, better than a lipstick will. Once again, NYX makes a great basic lip liner that comes in a huge variety of colors.
