Eclectic Cranberry Red, Silver Grey & Antique White Barn Wedding -...

I do love a child friendly family filled wedding celebration. Isn't that above image just ruddy well glorious?

Kirste and Duncan married on the 25th October 2014 at Bradwell Abbey in Milton Keynes. They had an eclectic style for their day, with vintage touches and a modern twist.

Kirste donned a beautiful 1950s style tea length dress with bow heels, Duncan went for tweed and a bow tie, while there were perhaps the best dressed kids in attendance ever. I especially love the DMs. Be sure to keep an eye out for an amazing cake and divine blooms too.

Thanks to Faith Dwight for sharing these amazing photographs today.

THE PROPOSAL | Duncan organised a surprise weekend away. We stayed in an amazing cottage in St Ives that is the old post office from which Virginia Woolf used to send her manuscripts! We did the Eden project on the way down and had a lovely meal on the Saturday night overlooking the harbour. Then Sunday morning Duncan woke me early and set off in Thrace and headed to a tiny airport where we caught a chartered plane with only 4 seats and flew to the Scilly Isles. He took me to the top of the island where we had s lovely meal and then he took me to the roof of the castle (unbeknown to him my parents stayed in exactly the same castle for their honeymoon years earlier and have a photo standing in the same spot!!) he gave me s present and my heart began to beat but when I opened it it was a pandora box which is a bracelet he often buys me charms for. My heart sank but when I opened it the tiny charm said 'marry me' and then he bought out s beautiful handmade engagement ring! Of course I said yes!!!

THE VISION | We picked a colour theme that ran through the whole of the day but in a very informal way. Our colours were cranberry red, silver grey and antique white.

Both Duncan and I are both very eclectic in our stylers and more than anything wanted the wedding to be different from anyone else's. We wanted people to come and be surprised and not know what was coming next, so we decided to use a whole bunch of different styles during the day and not just one single theme. So we decided to do each part of the day differently. My dress and hair were along a very 1950s theme. The ceremony was really classic with lots of perspex and white and flowers in jam jars etc. we then moved to another barn for the reception which was very slick with beautiful white linen cloths and very architectural flower displays. We then moved back to the first barn which had been transformed into a vintage coffee shop, with mismatched teacups and vintage furniture and bunting and baskets of second hand books for people to read while they had home-made cakes and coffee. We then moved back to the reception barn which by then had been transformed into a high tech disco with amazing lighting and DJ, low level seating and yet more flower displays.

THE VENUE | Bradwell Abbey, Milton-Keynes.

THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES |  I really wanted a 1950s tea dress and I definitely didn't want my dress to be white so this was custom-made and I got to pick the colour. My dress was Mooshki but alterations were made by The Wedding Workshop in Ampthill.

GROOM'S ATTIRE | Duncan wore a white shirt from Moss Bros, a Harris tweed waistcoat and jacket, Levi jeans and doctor marten shoes with yellow laces and yellow striped socks!!

THE READINGS & MUSIC | I walked down the aisle to "Entrance of the Queen of Sheba" by Handel.

Readings: a poem my (Kirste) son Chester wrote called 'Memories'. A poem called The Vows by Michael Symmons Roberts. And Silently if, EE Cummings.

BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | Timoney Maxted, Kirste's daughter.

THE FLOWERS |  Simon Lycett.

THE CAKE | My friend made our cake complete with Duncan and Kirste Lego toppers!!

MEMORABLE MOMENTS | I loved that it was so informal, That everyone felt relaxed and comfortable, and we all spent most of the day laughing.
