Handmade Pastel Wedding with a Touch of Sparkle ♥

Carmillia and Collis's DIY Pastel wedding was a Autumn celebration held at Eden Lassie in Durban, South Africa. Many of the touches were handmade by the bride, inspired by fun DIY Wedding projects like these. Their love was captured by Conway Photography who snapped lots of fun wedding photographs of the happy couple!

"We wanted our unique personalities that to emanate on our wedding day," shares Carmillia of the speical day. "We had two ceremonies: one in a catholic church because my husband is catholic, and one at the wedding venue, were we had a blessing ceremony."

DIY Pastel Wedding in Durban

Love Story: In 2011 we happened to both be in Cape Town at the same time for two totally different reasons. Collis was attending a friend's wedding and I was on holiday. On the last night of our trip my friends and I decided to go to out and we bumped into Collis and his group. Little did we know that we had just crossed paths with our future soulmates! We had our first date and it wasn't long before we realized it was love. A year later I said yes, and the rest, as they say, is history!

Bridal Style: I wore a strapless vintage style ballgown dress dress with lots lace and sparkles. The dress fitted so perfectly and the minute I put it on I knew that it was made for me! Because I'm a very natural I opted for minimal make up. My hair again was inspired by princess fairy tales, just long and full of curls. My bouquet was an nontraditional alternative made out of leather, feathers and bling. I didn't want a traditional bouquet, opting a bouquet that will last forever, like our love will.

Bridal Party Styling: The bridal party consisted of my closest dearest friends and my one and only sister. They wore beautiful vintage inspired lace and chiffon dresses in their colours of their own choosing, with a lace bodice and low backs. The groomsmen wore dove grey suits with no jackets to keep it cool and casual. Each had a matching crevat to suite their partner. The bridesmaids bouquets we specially made, with added feathers and bling to keep with the theme.

Wedding Ceremony: We had two ceremonies: one at the catholic church where I walked down the aisle as a violin played, ending with the lighting of unity candle. At the second ceremony we had prayers and wishes from our parents and chief bridesmaid and groomsmen. The ceremony at the wedding venue was draped with a beautiful aisle. Instead of confetti we created wedding wands which the guests got to keep as a gift.

Guest Book: Our wedding guest book was created from vinyl records on which our guests wrote wishes for us, which we will frame.

Your wedding reception: The table decor was DIY, the centre pieces made up of the table number, with lace and a touch of sparkle.
