Paris Portrait Session | Fly Away Bride

College sweethearts Krystyna and Chris travelled to Paris from the US last summer. They decided to take the opportunity to have a romantic portrait session in front of some of the city's most iconic monuments. According to Chris it was both an amazing way to celebrate their relationship as well as to remember their trip to Paris:

" Having a couple's photo session enabled us to come away with lots of beautiful images of Paris, without having the usual tourist selfies or handing our camera to complete strangers to take our picture. "

They treasure the images L'Amour de Paris captured of their wonderful time in Paris. More from Chris below on their story, as well as some great advice on having a photo session in this most beautiful and romantic of cities.

HOW THEY MET

"My wife Krystyna and I were college sweethearts: Krystyna was a cheerleader and swimmer and I was a club rugby player. We began dating about halfway through my senior year and have been together ever since: I proposed to her the day after she graduated from college. We were married in Krystyna's hometown of Wayne, New Jersey, with a traditional Roman Catholic ceremony in her family's church with our reception at a converted farm nearby.

DECIDING TO HAVE A PORTRAIT SESSION

For our wedding, we had amazing photographs taken during the wedding as well as a "trash the dress" session with our photographer Todd Laffler. After seeing these photographs it became important to us to capture the meaningful moments in our life in a special way. So when we made the decision to travel to Europe this past summer, we knew we wanted to have some photographs taken in Paris, to remember our trip. Our two-week European vacation included stops in Paris, Nice, Monte Carlo, and Valencia (for La Tomatina). Having a couple's photo session afforded us the opportunity to take photographs of the beautiful city of Paris, without having token tourist selfies or handing our camera to complete strangers to take our picture. Once we saw the stunning work of Stacy from L'Amour de Paris, we knew she was the perfect fit for us.

CHOOSING THE LOCATION

For our choices of the locations, we worked really closely with Stacy and her staff to determine where and what types of photographs we wanted to capture. We definitely wanted to get some shots of Paris' landmarks like the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, the Seine, and to document locking our lock on the love bridge. Additionally, we just wanted to take some shots wandering the streets and enjoying the city. Stacy did an excellent job coordinating shooting in all of these locations and we are thrilled with the photographs which resulted.

ADVICE

The advice I have for anyone planning a couple's photo session in Paris is to definitely take the opportunity and time to do it! The images of our trip are ones we will cherish forever. My second piece of advice is not to be afraid dress up, regardless of the looks you might get. Lastly, don't be surprised if you have to get up early to get the shots you want. For our morning shoot we started at 7:30am so that it looked like we were alone in Paris. Despite the early morning, the end result was definitely worth it- we could not be happier with the photographs, or the experience we had with Stacy."
