Perfection. This plantation house wedding from Michael and Carina Photography is sure to lighten your mood on this dreary rainy day...

From the bride: "Brent and I met completely by chance. We became "Facebook friends" while we were both freshmen in college and I wrote on his "wall" mistaking him for someone else. Instead of simply shrugging off the mistake and moving on, Brent asked me to meet him for dinner and the rest, as they say, is history. We had been together for almost five years when he brought me to a beautiful mountainside vineyard and asked me to be his forever. We toasted our engagement that day with a Prosecco that we would later enjoy on our wedding day, and that is now awaiting the celebration of our first anniversary."

As a wedding industry professional who had helped numerous brides plan their special days, it was so intriguing to be on the other side planning my own wedding. We had plenty of time to do so with an almost two-year engagement. When we envisioned our wedding day, we pictured a Southern celebration with our dearest family and friends. We wanted a wedding full of personal details which exuded our love story and who we are as a couple. My favorite color has been pink for as long as I can remember, so I knew I wanted to incorporate shades of blush into the color scheme. I even tied a pink sash around my wedding dress! There was no doubt in my mind that I wanted a church ceremony, so the biggest challenge was finding the perfect reception venue. We visited venues throughout Virginia, my home state and the state where we met. The first time we drove up the gravel country road towards West Manor Estate, we knew we had found our venue. Its Southern charm and sweeping views of the Virginia countryside embodied exactly what we were looking for. On the day of the wedding, I woke up with a serene calmness that stayed with me throughout the day. I always thought I would be a very particular bride on my wedding day, but I had a very easy-going demeanor which I equate to the understanding that the only thing that truly mattered was that I was finally going to marry my best friend. Just about everything our guests saw that day had a meaning. The escort cards were attached to key-shaped flower seed paper as a nod to Brent's occupation in the horticulture industry. I also had ceramic Furbys made to signify our married name, and a miniature version of our beloved dog, Penny. One of my favorite parts of the wedding was the surprise checkered flag exit I planned for Brent, a born and raised Hoosier and lifetime fan of the Indianapolis 500. The most memorable moment for me was our first dance as husband and wife. We were gifted with ballroom dance lessons before the wedding and we had practiced for weeks. We danced to our song, "The Luckiest", by Ben Folds. The first time we listened to that song together, we were a couple of kids in a study room of a college dormitory. Hearing that song fill the room as we glided across the dance floor, surrounded by the people we love, I was reminded of how far we had come and filled with joy thinking about our future together. "

From Michael and Carina Photography: "Just a few weeks after their engagement session, Sabina and Brent, college sweethearts and the very best of friends, married in the mountains of Virginia. The Southern plantation was a perfect backdrop for this classic wedding. Their blush and gold decorations added to the elegant Southern feel. The day could not have been more lovely. Even the rain could not diminish the happy celebration that brought their family together from across the country."
