From Lisa O'Dwyer Photography: "As a group of wedding vendors who have studied Art History in college (Virginia of Bluebird Productions interned at the Frick Collection in NYC, and Lisa O'Dwyer the photographer was an intern at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC), we were interested in working on a wedding style shoot influenced by Art History. Frances of Prema came up with the concept of Sargent's Bride:
"Bedecked in opulent satin, pearls stacked upon pearls, our lady waits, languid in repose. At her side, her sisters, her best bosom friends gather; each a blossom in her own right, but together a force of beauty and brilliance. Hand in hand, they are a force to be reckoned with, strong, graceful and delicate. Daughters, sisters, wives and matriarchs, bonded by love and blood, these are the women who carry the line, regal and real amongst of the folds of silk. A flower fades, but her story lives on." This editorial was inspired by the classic portraiture of John Singer Sargent whose work captured the spirit and essence of the Gilded Age. With a palpable opulence and an honest directness of focus, Sargent's portraits offer a glimpse into the minds and hearts of the ladies of highest society. Inspired by the sumptuous gowns of the past and the elaborate Gibson Girl curls, our models wear an updated look of simple but highly refined elegance in line with the aesthetic of the modern bride." "For the photographers: I used Fuji 400H rated at 800 and 1600 and pushed +1 and +2. I did this because I wanted to get a very grainy and contrasty effect with the film evocative of aged paintings, mystery, and history. I also used Fuji Natura 1600 film which is only available in Asia. It has a beautiful grain that is perfect for low-light environments to create a "painterly" effect."
