Elegant Pop-Up Barn Wedding: Laura + Rob

Elegant Pop-Up Barn Wedding: Laura + Rob

via

Laura + Rob knew they wanted a barn wedding, but with their 350 person guest list, finding one to hold that many people in their desired area of SoCal was next to impossible. Instead of giving up on their ideas, they brought on a team who could bring their vision to life and then some. No barn? No problem. The design + rental crew at Archive Rentals were immediately up to the challenge and set out to make a 300-person clear tent look exactly like an old barn - yes, that barn above is not a real barn!! Amazing, right? Let's hear a bit more about it from the team...

We were working with a bare patch of acreage owned by the bride's father. No kitchen, no hotel staff, no parking lot, no electricity, no water. Yet on a wintry day in December, guests arrived to what appeared to be a century-old barn in the middle of a field. It was an old-fashioned barn-raising of what we now refer to as the "Pop-Up Barn." It took months to plan and a week to construct, but when it was all finished, it almost looked like a tent was added to enclose some old standing barn walls. It was perfect.

There's sure to be a lot of pressure on the photographer hired to capture a scene that was such a labor of love, but Chris and Kristen Photography didn't miss a beat. We're in love with their stunning photos from L + R's perfect day...

Although Rob + Laura are a down-to-earth country couple, they also wanted their special day to be elegant and sophisticated. Bringing in french-inspired furniture pieces from Archive Rentals was a perfect way to make sure the elegance didn't get lost in the 'Wild West'! Lush, romantic greenery + thousands of white flower petals helped up the luxury factor, too.

Donna Urban Events says, The best part of the Pop-Up Barn was that inside had a bright, open-sky feel, which allowed for a winter time barn reception where guests could still dine during sunset and dance under the stars.

Every single detail is totally spot-on!

From florist, Krista Jon: When Laura explained that she loves red roses, I was thrilled. So do I, and they are often under used. However, after a few meetings I learned that she loves only red roses, no greens and no 'other' flowers. And, because their wedding was so close to Christmas, she didn't want the designs to look like Christmas. The challenge was how to use only red roses, keep it from looking Christmas-like, and also prevent it from looking like standard ballroom balls of roses. It wasn't easy! But through trail and error and glasses of wine, we all got there. It turned out to be one of my favorite weddings because the saturation of color and volume of florals had a such a strong presence that it was exactly what was needed to fill the huge space.

More from Donna Urban Events, The meal was capped with two of the most spectacular of dessert stations; an entire 'room' within the tent filled with all of the bride's favorite treats displayed under a huge antique crystal chandelier. And a surprise for Rob from Laura, we built a fully stocked retro donut shop within the tent, a tongue-in-cheek nod to the groom who is an Orange County Sheriff's Deputy along with his father, brothers and friends. The space was filled with black and white photos and well as memorabilia to honor the department, so the donut shop received cheers of delight at the end of evening when the Bride pulled back the curtain to reveal the surprise and welcome guests in for donuts and coffee.

The perfect night ended with a fun sparkler exit before Laura + Rob hopped into their get-a-way car, a 1967 Mustang that
belonged to the Laura's dad!

We're in love with how inventive this amazing wedding is! Such great inspiration and proof that the sky is the limit when it comes to bringing your dream wedding to life!

Congrats to L + R and thanks for sharing your day with us!
