It may sound crazy, but we love trying new makeup so much, we sometimes wish there were more places to apply it. Good news: There is uncharted makeup territory you may not have fully explored. Where, you wonder? Your lower lash line! Our latest favorite trick involves applying colored liner in this unexpected area, as it can really open up the eyes. Here's how to make it work!

Step 1. Running and smudging on the lower lash line is common, so prep with a primer like Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion.

Step 2. Choose a color that's flattering for your eye. For brown eyes, try olive, like Urban Decay 24/7 Velvet Glide-On Eye Pencil in Cult. Feeling daring? How about something bright, like L'Oréal Paris Infallible Silkissime Eyeliner in True Teal?

For green eyes, try a light purple or eggplant. Hazel eyes can also try purple, or bronze. Have blue eyes? Bring them out with navy, or a copper, such as NYX Cosmetics Jumbo Eye Pencil in Yogurt.

Step 3. Want a bigger impact without going totally bright? Try blending a metallic liner along the rim of your lower lashes.

Step 4. The brighter you go, the more you'll want to keep the rest of your look relatively simple. Still, don't forget about the eyelids, where you'll want to add a shadow to complement your new look.
