The Right Blush for Chocolate Skin Tones

If you have a chocolate complexion, you could have a range of different undertones. How do you find the best blush for you? Start by taking note of your skin's natural flush.

Brown or Red Undertones

Have darker undertones? Lucky you. The brightest and deepest tones of blush look great on your skin. Although some might look shockingly bright in the package, once they meet your skin, they'll be a beautiful match.

One of the most unexpected, yet flattering shades of blush for chocolate skin tones can be a warm cinnamon. Look for a mix of orange and gold, like that found in Lancôme Blush Subtil in Shimmer Sunset Seduction. Also give bright red a try, or even a deeper, brick red, like Maybelline Fit Me Blush in Deep Wine. For another great look, try dark plum. We love L'Oréal Paris True Match Naturale Blush in Sugar Plum.

Yellow Undertones

Yellow-based skin tones have great options, too. Try a deep berry or saturated pink - something like NYX Cosmetics Powder Blush in Desert Rose.

If some blush shades get lost on skin and aren't vibrant enough, try this trick: Layer a powder blush over a cream blush or stain (like NYX Cosmetics Rouge Cream Blush) to make the color pop and last longer.
