The Right Blush for Fair Skin Tones

The Right Blush for Fair Skin Tones

Call it what you will - porcelain, alabaster, creamy - the fair-skinned among us are the best candidates to wear the lightest, most ethereal of blush colors. Whereas on others a light wisp of pink might come across as ashy, chalky, or may not even show up at all, soft colors nicely accent a lighter complexion.

Application Tips

Since any color will show up well on fair skin, use a light hand at first, especially with reds or more vibrant colors. The fair-skinned can often be best served by blushes with a more sheer texture, like a gel or mousse, rather than a powder. We like L'Oréal Paris Visible Lift Blur Blush or Maybelline Face Studio Master Glaze.

When experimenting with a vibrant powder blush on lighter complexions, you can tone them down by layering the color with a translucent powder. Try something like L'Oréal Paris True Match Naturale Soft-Focus Mineral Finish.

The Fairest (Shades) of Them All

If you have cool undertones with a fair complexion, a light pink will likely be the most flattering, like NYX Cosmetics Powder Blush in Flamingo.

Peach tones look especially nice on those with warm undertones. Lancôme Blush Subtil in Shimmer Peach Amour will be delicate and cheekbone-enhancing on the lightest of skin. New to undertones? Here are some tips for determining yours.
