Some of us need to face the truth: We are addicted to bronzer! We mindlessly dust its warm, glowing hues all over our face, all year long. It may make us feel like we're getting an extension on summer, but our warm-weather formulas are often too dark, orange or sparkly for our winter skin.

When done correctly and in the right shade, bronzer can still look great in the cold, gray months, but it's not the only route to a sun-kissed face. This winter, give these tricks a try! instead:

Create a Deeper Base

Infuse a warm glow with a foundation just a few shades darker than your skin tone, says makeup artist Jennifer Trotter. After applying your regular foundation, grab the deeper shade in a cream foundation like Maybelline Fit Me Shine-Free Foundation. Lightly dot the top of your forehead, sides of your face, jawline and the bridge of your nose, and blend.

Warm Up the Cheeks

The right blush is the easiest way to infuse a healthy, warm look into your skin. Try a deep berry for darker girls and a peachy rose for paler complexions. If your blush isn't a rosy shade, you are missing the boat, says Trotter. Blush should mimic a natural flush, so keep it warm and rosy.
