Your Ultimate Guide to Wearing Marsala, Pantone's Color of 2015

via

Each year, the color authorities at Pantone announce their annual color of the year. For 2015, the color is marsala! Named after an Italian fortified wine made in Sicily, it's an earthy, slightly dusty red-brown.

As soon as we saw it, we couldn't help but notice that this warm and seductive red happens to be flattering for a range of skin tones and eye colors. Lucky us! And we're not alone. According to Pantone, "Sultry and subtle marsala is a great go-to color for beauty."

The versatile, wearable marsala can be fun to wear everywhere from lips, cheeks and nails to hair, and yes, even to flatter the eyes.

For eyes, marsala illuminates various smoky-neutral color combinations. Pantone says that marsala also pairs well with mixes of "peachy pinks, and sparkles against antiqued gold metallic." Translation? It's perfect for a range of lipstick and blush looks. And there's no denying how great this slight twist on our classic red will look on nails. Finally, marsala hair can be a fun hair color to try, especially for brunettes, due to its warm auburn hue.
