A wedding that felt true to their personalities was a top priority for high school sweethearts Marlee and Matt. "I wanted to have the tradition, but in a way that represented us," explains Marlee. Montreal's Les Eclusiers par Apollo was the venue that finally captured their hearts. "The mix of rustic, nature, industrial and romance was something we thought we would never find," Marlee says.

Along with their dream venue, touches of family history made the couple's day extra special. "The lace covering on our Chuppah was from a bedspread given to my great-grandmother on her wedding day. The gold watch Matt wore belonged to his great-grandfather, and my garter was my mom's, worn on her wedding day followed by my two sister's at their own weddings," explains Marlee. The bride and her mother also took the time to make beautiful details for the big day, such as the photo booth backdrop, the little 'love notes', and the candy bar signs.

The top moments for the newlyweds included their first look at one another where they 'swapped rolls'. "I was so relaxed, and he was so nervous! Usually it's the exact opposite," Marlee says. Another highlight for the two was their moment alone right after Ray LaMontagne's 'You Are The Best Thing' played them back down the aisle. "It was the most emotional we were all evening," claims the bride.

For Marlee, who never pictured herself as a bride, and never dreamed of a big party or a fancy dress, the wedding planning process was a lot to take on. "Since the wedding, when we see our guests the most special thing that they say to me is 'your wedding couldn't have been for anybody else but for you and Matt'," Marlee shares."It all paid off. We couldn't have asked for more."
