Colourful, Toy Box Inspired Wedding: Elena & Paul

Oh Elena and Paul's wedding makes me so incredibly happy! Her vintage yellow wedding dress, those home made wooden flowers, the beautiful ceremony arch, that Californian sunshine... it's just all so glorious!

The couple met at college when they were both studying toy design. They both now work for toy companies so I'm sure you can see where their wedding inspiration came from!

"Both of us are artists and we wanted to do something that reflected our personalities and lifestyle", wrote Elena. "We wanted to celebrate our love using bright colors and crafty designs. Were were inspired by Scandinavian folk art and vintage fashion. In fact, we avoided the use of the color black, instead choosing brown to keep the atmosphere softer and folkier!"

"We made all the centerpieces and décor", she continued. "We had wooden flowers with owl tea lights. During the cocktail our we set out games for the guests to play on the ocean-view patio behind the reception hall. We also designed and painted all of the wooden flowers for the boutonnières. We had the pieces laser-cut and painstakingly put them all together."

"Paul and I made all of the pom poms that were at each table and I made all of the yarn flowers that were sprinkled down the isle during our ceremony. There were hand-painted rocks that we used as paper weights to hold the programs down on the ceremony seats. Paul did all of the artwork for the programs and invitations. Our love of natural materials (especially wood) inspired our table settings, invitation design and atmosphere. We chose upbeat, folky music that emphasized this in our outdoor ceremony."

"My dress was vintage that I purchased and altered", Elena concluded. "It was from Shareen Vintage and was originally meant for my sister, but I loved the daisy and ruffle details so much that I kept it for myself!"
