Summer & Robin: The Furniture.

Summer & Robin: The Furniture.

I've got a mouth full of Gingerbread Whirl and a mug full of hot choc. I am officially a nerdy christmas kind of girl. Oh, did I mention I'm watching a rubbish festive film on Christmas24?

I can't help but think how much I would love a wintery wedding, although I was just thinking that about Autumnal weddings last week as I was covered in pumpkin guts, eating halloween sweets....

I know you should have what you want on your wedding day, but what if what you want is a summer wedding outside with pumpkins and hot chocolate and spring flowers???

I'm so happy to announce we have our furniture for the wedding! I was starting to get panicky about our dream venue with no chairs or tables, awkward. Virginia's Vintage Hire is so perfect for us and our venue. At first I was looking at normal banquet chairs and tables but it seemed too 'posh' juxtaposed with our barn venue/relaxed Mexican theme.

Plus our (my) major stress about the guest list (I've still not actually properly done it yet). We have booked benches, tables, chairs as well as decorative items like rugs and a gorgeous old day bed. I'm probably most exited about the large green cart that I'm going to turn into a bar or a cake table or...well I'm not sure yet, but I can't wait to figure it all out. Also I booked one small bench called the Emmett bench, which I really didn't need but hey I'm sentimental and it's my sons namesake bench so it makes perfect sense that I would have to order it.

I need to start trawling Pinterest for ways of dressing the furniture. Obviously I don't want to cover vintage wooden tables in table cloths. I know I want flowers and maybe ribbons, but want it to look like a beautiful mess, like I just threw it all together (but actually I meticulously planned it for months). I also really like the trend of decorating chairs backs and I'm definitely going to pretty the day bed too. If you have a Pinterest board you think could help me out leave me a link to it in the comments, I want to stalk it. (You can see RMW's Chair Decor Board here).

Anyhoo, I can't really believe I've been blogging for almost six months. This is the most fun, it has really inspired me to plan a wedding that will be a once in a lifetime experience for both of us. And probably most importantly it has been keeping me on track, each month I get to review what I've done or need to do for the wedding. And without fail each month I think, 'I can't believe it's been four weeks already!' if I didn't constantly have that four weekly reminder I don't know how I would manage my time.

The most important thing I need to sort is the catering now...we keep putting it off but I want to do it before the end of the month, we already have our date penciled in with them but we need to meet in person!! Then all the most important things will be in place...

So shall we do a wedding round up of all the stuff I have confirmed? (Ya'll can't actually answer so I'll just do it anyway.)

Our magnificent venue is Court Farm, and we have booked the marquee and toilets and generator and all the boring stuff with Southwest Marquees. As you already know, furniture is going to be from Virginia's Vintage Hire. And our dashing duo of photographer and videographer are Joab Smith and Jamie Harding. Flowers are going to be my very own uber talented Dad. I have hinted at my dress by Temperley *eeeeeeekk* but my shoes, oh my shoes, I wish I had them on right now. They are the most perfect perfect wedding day shoes (for me). I decided on simple flats handmade to order by Ancient Geek Sandals. Words can't express how much I love them, so I'll just have to steal a part of their own blurb...

'According to an Ancient Greek myth, the gods and goddesses had their sandals made on the beautiful island of Crete by a gifted sandal maker who enriched each pair with magical powers. Famous for having made the flying sandals for Hermes, the sandal maker also embellished them with his personal signature... a "golden wing" buckle.'

For real, I have goddess shoes to get married in!

To all of you who, like me, are ready and waiting for Christmas, ho ho ho. And to all you Scrooges, bah humbug. I need to get myself another hot chocolate.

Summer xxx

P.S. I'm not a crazy nutter with my decorations up already. That strictly doesn't happen until December 1st.
