To Shampoo or Not to Shampoo?

To shampoo or not to shampoo? That is the beauty question. Whether you're one who likes to suds up or not, there are some major benefits that come with the bubbles. To get into more detail, the question really is WHEN to shampoo. Everyone has their preferences, but it really isn't necessary to lather your locks every single day - in fact, it's recommended that you don't. Ditching the 'poo every now and then will give your hair a chance to produce protecting oils that will keep your hair moisturized and healthy.

Not having to wash (and therefore not having to blow dry and style) hair every day is something we can definitely get on board with! But doing this successfully means choosing the right products and shampoo for when you DO cleanse, so that hair can last longer in between washes.

What to Use
In order to look and feel healthy, your hair needs moisture just as much as your skin does. Skip the shampoo for a few days at a time (if you can!), ensuring the production of your hair's natural oils. Oils - that doesn't exactly sound appealing, does it? But this process actually helps keep your hair conditioned.

When it's time to scrub, ensure healthy hair by using products with soothing hair care ingredients like shea, monoi, jojoba, butters and oils. They'll help repair damaged hair and keep it silky smooth - without the grease. Removing sulfates and parabens from your routine will also help keep colored hair vibrant, longer.

For naturally textured hair that tends to be dry, try Carol's Daughter Monoi Repairing Shampoo or Black Vanilla Moisture & Shine Sulfate-Free Shampoo and use Carol's Daughter Tui Color Care Hydrating Sulfate-Free Shampoo on color-treated hair.

When to Use It
Shampoo every 2-3 days with a moisturizing or hydrating shampoo to restore nutrients and revive dull locks. Dry shampoo and hair products are perfect for maintaining a sleek and polished look, but they do accumulate buildup around the scalp area. It's important to use a clarifying shampoo once a week, especially if you have oily hair!

A clarifying shampoo will gently strip away buildup from your strands (without affecting your natural oils), and give you soft, full hair! Less weight around your roots means more volume and we like the sound of that!
