On a modern wedding aesthetic

From Elissa R Photography:
From the moment I heard from Michael and Natalie, I knew that their wedding would be amazing. Michael, who attended Art Center in Pasadena, CA and now designs cars for Acura, has impeccable design taste; Natalie, a Japanese-American who grew up in the Los Angeles area, loves modern fashion and innovative designs. Their Japanese-Jewish wedding, held at Temple Israel in Long Beach, was a beautiful, contemporary mix of their two cultures.

Natalie walked down the aisle in traditional Japanese wedding attire. After the chorus of mazel tovs, she changed into a handmade neoprene dress and 3D-printed heels. Michael and his groomsmen all wore custom "brass" knuckles spelling out his surname, and the party continued amidst fresh, locally-sourced fare and desserts. The two had envisioned their wedding to feel fresh and modern, with geometric designs throughout. It was a sweet celebration.

Advice from the Bride

My advice to brides on their big day is to just go with the flow. Focus on the big picture. Try not to base your emotional state on whether small details were executed to your preference.

Great advice Natalie! And might we just add, staying true to yourselves as a couple is important. Everyone's wedding is beautiful and unique to the people who throw it. So take a cue from Natalie and Michael, and quit trying to fit in and instead celebrate you differences; Like Natalie's neoprene reception dress and geometric shaped wedding shoes! So Fabulous!
