Summer & Robin: The Witches Coven.

Summer & Robin: The Witches Coven.

As we approach the spookiest night of the year, Halloween, Rock My Wedding readers - I proudly introduce you all to...my coven.

Also known as my bridesmaids (also known as my sisters). We aren't actually witches by the way, we're just dorks who love The Craft and Sabrina The Teenage Witch (SALEM!!) and dressing up on Halloween. The last time we where together for Halloween, Florence dyed her hair blue to be Enid from Ghost World, Roslyn was a scary dead bride and I was evil Mary-Kate (or) Ashley Olsen. Marianne was too little back then...she's the baby.

Roslyn, Florence and Marianne or Roz, Floz and Maz, are all younger than me and we are spread out between Bath, Leicester and Paris. We don't usually all find ourselves in the same place at the same time, so where better to do the introducing than The Canopy and Stars Chapel. Hidden in the woods around Walcot Hall in Shropshire, it was our first holiday all together without Mom n' Pop.

Dropped off at the closest road, we walked up through the woods to the isolated tin chapel. I can honestly say that I've never been anywhere so unique. When I originally booked, the pictures looked too good to be true, but they weren't! It was pretty much the perfect Addams family holiday home. Creepy and kooky, mysterious and spooky and really really deadly beautiful! Everything from the organ to the Aga were perfectly hand chosen to create the cosy home from home (please can someone get us an Aga for a wedding present?!)

I stalked Walcot Halls Instagram page once I got home only to find it chock-a-block with wedding pics of lucky beautiful people who had had their weddings in and around Walcot Hall (I think all three of my little sisters have been persuaded to get married at Walcot Hall when their time comes).

It really would make the most quirky and unique wedding venue. If you've been married at the Chapel and your wedding photos are online anywhere please link them in the comments, because I want to see them!

I wanted to make a formal proposal to my sisters, so I made them each a little creepy trick and treat bag. Each one contained a face mask, a mini witches hat, spooky orange glasses, halloween nail art stickers, a mini bottle of pink fizz with female celebs faces glued all over (girl power) and a mini warty pumpkin. Just what every maid needs right? Also a card which simply read inside...

...join my coven?

A few weeks ago I realised I would never be able to choose a chief bridesmaid so came to the obvious conclusion that they would have to compete for it. I'm the biggest sister, which means I am quite skilled at making them do humiliating pointless tasks just because I demand it. Although I probably haven't exercised my mean big sis rights for at least 15 years (honest).

Once we were settled in at the Chapel the games began...

Round one was a signature cocktail task. The names of the other two were lost in the next days hangover, but Marianne's cocktail was called 'The Falling Sheep'.

Round two was a lip-sync for your life challenge inspired by the Goddess of our coven - Ru Paul.

And finally round three was supposed to be a ghost story challenge. But there was an owl hooting outside in the woods and my witchy wimpy sisters chickened out. Naturally the final challenge became a 'pheasant impression' round. During which I almost peed my pants with laughter.

Roslyn was the winner and not only did she win the title of chief bridesmaid but also the honour of crowd time during the speeches (be it a speech, interpretive dance, song or mime) AND the dreamy chief bridesmaid trophy!!!! Double thumbs up from Channing Tatum!!! Hip hip hooray for Roslyn!!!

We really had a blast, I hope all our talk about going back to the chapel happens. Only next time we will take a different game to play. The 1982 edition of Trivial Pursuit was far too hard for us 90's 'girl power' girls.
