Coral & Peach School Styled Shoot

Written by: louise

Combining my love of the wedding industry, sharing knowledge and styling is my ultimate aim. So when the UK Academy of Wedding & Event Planning asked me to get involved with coordinating and styling a shoot to reflect their new branding, it wasn't hard to say yes. The UKAWEP provides the only course in the UK specifically for wedding stylists, which is why I'm also a member of their Advisory Board, helping them stay current and fresh in the fast moving world of wedding trends! We'll be finding out more about the UKAWEP tomorrow as Director Kylie Carson joins us to tell us more about starting your own wedding business and reasons behind their rebrand. But today' it's ALL about the pretty, styled by me, photographed by Anneli Marinovich, and brought to life with the help of an amazing local team of wedding pro's who also believe in my ethos of sharing, learning and growing together.

The shoot was inspired by the amazing bookcase in the Bishop Terrick's Drawing Room at Fulham Palace, the UKAWEP's new colours of coral, peach and black and their philosopy of old-fashioned education delivered in a modern way. I have wanted to get my hands on styling the Drawing Room at Fulham Palace for ages! Crammed with vintage books, the bookcase provides the perfect opportunity to create an amazing backdrop for any wedding. So working with a school-inspired theme we used giant chalkboard signs and stationery created by Itty Bitty & Bijou throughout the shoot. Chalkboard has been so popular this year, and these are really simple ideas to bring a trend to life in your own wedding.

Incorporating vintage elements in your wedding doesn't necessarily mean embracing a whole vintage theme, so on the table, I used cut glassware and plates to add a touch of grown up sophistication. We introduced florals in bold coral and peach and red colours, which BoBoutique used to fill the bookcase and create a statement table centre with a contemporary asymmetric design and trailing foliage. The combination of organic, bright florals against the muted backdrop creates a modern overall look. In a twist on dessert table trend, Andi Freeman Cakes filled the bookcase with delicious cakes, cookies, cake pops and meringues. The centrepiece is a stunning gold lace effect cake topped with a delicate hand-pulled coral peony.

Thank you to an amazing team, and the UKAWEP for letting us loose with creative ideas!
