Kallie & Ansu's Modern Organic Wedding

Written by: louise

This wedding makes me want to dance around my office singing Pharell William's 'Happy' - if it's not already Kallie & Ansu's anthem it definitely should be! They are possibly the coolest, most perfect loved-up couple we've ever shared on b.loved. There is just so much to love about their day, from the sunshine yellow colour palette and modern organic décor, to the heartfelt details and happy smiling faces all day long. Kallie is such a pretty bride, I'm totally in love with her wedding day style from the big tulle dress to the simple side bun and minimal jewellery. Ansu isn't far behind in the fashion stakes rocking a pretty cool outfit complete with braces, bowtie and a DIY wooden buttonhole. Although, his coolest accessory has to be his grooms woman. Yes, you read that right. And she totally rocked it.

Their venue, the aptly named Cowshed, is nestled in the north South African countryside near the renowned Kruger park, and hints of their South African roots are everywhere from the relaxed farm style, to yellow painted proteas (LOVE!!), and animal motifs. This couple and their family are seriously creative too, practically DIY-ing the whole day from scratch, but if I hadn't told you I bet you'd never have guessed! This is DIY done so right. Of course to capture it they needed a seriously cool photographer, who they found in Andre from Black Frame Photography.

Is there such a thing as too many photos? I'm not sure I care... enjoy this one my loves!!

How we met is actually funny story, as we disagree on the day we met. According to me, we met at one of our friend's dance classes, but he believes we met at one of the University's Spring Festivals. Anyhow, I immediately fell in love with his charm and cute smile. I bought my dress in the USA, and got it altered by the designer, Gert van de Merwe. As for the accessories, I wanted to have a natural look and was honoured to wear my sister's pearl earrings. I wanted my styling to be natural, therefore I went with a soft side bun. Makeup was a little bit dramatic with attention to the eyes. My two lovely sister wore soft, elegant dresses from Jenny Yoo and the groomsmen were clothed in Zara suits, with custom leather bowties and suspenders and wooden buttonholes! As an Interior Designer, and being a creative person I had way too many ideas, but the most important element I wanted was to be DIFFERENT! I would say the décor ended up being modern-organic. Our colours were chartreuse yellow and shades of grey - these two colours was quite the trend last year and I was so happy, as yellow is my favourite colour. The day for us revolved around our love for each and wanted to share that love with our closet family members and friends and no better way of having it on a small farm holding called The Cowshed, in Mpumalanga, South Africa. At first I didn't want any flowers until my sister convinced me that it will add softness to the table. I thought Protea's would work well, but I was worried that it will have no impact. My sister came up with the idea of spraying them yellow and it turned out to be the highlight of the tables. I don't think there was any décor that wasn't made by myself and my sisters. Inspiration was everywhere, nature, retail stores, and off course Pinterest! My friend's mom has her own bakery called The Homespun and when I called her she was overly excited to get creative with me. The cake had two layers with a honeycomb pattern. A male and female portrait, lasercut into mdf wood was used as the cake toppers.

Just how much do you love them?!
