A gay Florida man surprised his boyfriend by taking to the highest possible platform -- " The Ellen DeGeneres Show" -- to pop the question.

Before dropping to one knee, Benjamin explained the personal significance of the very public proposal: he and Justin, who hail from Fort Meyers, had previously exchanged commitment rings during a February visit to Ellen's show.

The proposal, which took place on Oct. 3, seems like a foreshadowing to what's already been an incredible week for marriage equality in the U.S.
