Trend to Try: How to Make Neon Work for Fall

When it comes to beauty for the everyday girl, Team MDC has you covered in spades. But even the most bona fide beauty experts can use a little inspiration straight from the runway. Our friends at Beautystreams specialize in breaking down the latest trends in high fashion so that you can make the look work for you, catwalk optional.

The decade that gave birth to raves and brought house music to the masses inspires a high-tech, color-intensive look this fall. Think '90s club kids that flocked to all-night parties and danced to trippy techno, wearing candy-colored cosmetics and edgy hairstyles. The Neo-Raver look samples this underground spirit with neon brights and graphic applications in unexpected places.

For his already-legendary fall 2014 runway show in Paris, Karl Lagerfeld outfits the Chanel models in high-octane colors and couture trainers (sneaker addict heaven!). Eyes are treated to bold combos of safety orange, lime green, and neon pink in matte swipes, contrasted with glossy silver.

Light pink blush dusted on the cheeks adds some life to the soft matte and porcelain foundation for a sleek and youthful allure - while creamy pink lips up the pretty factor. The models wear slicked-back hair with crimped and braided ponytails, like the most upscale Candy Ravers ever. Other hair options make graphic statements too; a mix of wet and dry textures with visible comb marks, or a single cornrow down the center part. Neo-Ravers like to shake things up and have fun doing so!

Get the Look: MDC Tells You How!

Thanks to the new neo fall trend, we don't have to stash away our Urban Decay Electric Pressed Pigment Palette or other bright shadow faves just yet! Bold eye makeup is the perfect contrast to our cold weather closet - which can tend to be more on the neutral side (we're not complaining!). MDC has the guide to replicating this '90s-inspired look with a color that's bound to turn some heads - lime green. Yes, you read that correctly! Lime green and other neons are officially IN all fall and winter long (pinch us, we must be dreaming)!
