Good morning my loves! It's a double-wedding-whammy this week as I get to share the final chapter of our Real Life Bride Danielle's story. Yesterday she told us all her contemporary classic chevron & succulent-filled English wedding and today we get to see her South African blessing ceremony and celebration with family and their friends. Being winter in their home town of Cape Town meant a colour palette change for this wintery day, using blush, gold and navy while fairy and candle lights added a cosy warm glow to the party. Their utterly romantic day was captured perfectly by local photographer Yolande Marx.

After our beautiful wedding in the UK we decided to have a blessing in a small chapel near our home town of Cape Town, followed by a lunchtime reception. This gave us the opportunity to celebrate our marriage with our family and friends in Cape Town. As July is the height of winter in South Africa it was the complete opposite the UK in terms of the look and feel. We wanted to create a wintery, warm, cosy look and feel. We chose a wine farm to have lunch where we could sip red wine by an open fire - the complete opposite to our summer wedding in England! We had a blessing in a small stone chapel in Tokai, Cape Town not far from the Steenberg Estate where we had our lunch reception. Steenberg is a wine farm in the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town and we had lunch at their restaurant Catherina's. We chose Catherina's at Steenberg for its contemporary décor, food and wine! Christiaan and I both wore our suit and dress from England, but as it was pretty cold in Cape Town I added a faux fur shrug from Moonsoon. I didn't want to replicate my hair and make-up from England so opted for a slighted different up-do but kept the make up fair natural. My two bridesmaids wore beautiful gold sequin dresses with gold jackets which were just perfect for the cold wintery day. They added a touch of sparkle! I didn't venture too far from my love of white and cream flowers but chose to add a blush colour to add some warmth and touches of gold to give a more wintery look. The colour palette was white, blush, navy and gold. Our florist was Tanya from Studio Bloem. I wanted the flowers to be slightly different from the UK wedding so asked Tanya to add a more blush and gold element to the flowers and vases. The bridesmaids had a gorgeous single stem tied with ribbons. Tanya really got the flowers arrangements spot on! They fitted perfectly with the venue and gave the soft and romantic look I had hoped for. All of the chapel décor was done by my mother-in-law and bridesmaids, we had fairy lights at the front and church candles in the windows of the chapel and flower garland around the door. At Catherina's there was very little décor we needed to add, the restaurant has a contemporary look with light boxes and paper cranes which fitted perfectly with our day. We chose to have a cheese cake for our lunch reception. My mother-in-law created this for us with all the condiments and fruit and nuts. This was one of the highlights of the day. I have a really special memory of the rain beating on the window, with the fires roaring and seeing everyone chatting over a glass of red wine and cheese. It was just perfect! In South Africa our photographer was Yolande Marx, we fell in love with Yolande's photography style from the moment we saw it, her use of light is captivating. We met Yolande a few weeks before we flew to England and we really felt we clicked with her. Christiaan has a passion for photography and was able to talk to Yolande about all the technical details and I just fell in love with her pretty style of photography, we got the best of both worlds! Yolande's photographs speak for themselves; my first words were "they look like they should be in a magazine". I think we were very lucky two wedding photographers, after having had the wedding in the UK we were simply able to relax in South Africa and every time I look at Yolande's photographs I think she really captured our happiness and love on the day.
