Pretty Bunting & Vintage China Filled Wedding

Pretty Bunting & Vintage China Filled Wedding

via

This afternoon we are getting all shabby and chic with a super pretty wedding day.

WWW readers Alexander and Kayleigh tied the knot on the 31st May 2014 at Heaton House Farm. They wanted a vintage feel to their wedding, with oodles of bunting and vintage china for good measure.

Kayleigh donned the most gorgeous swishy Justin Alexander dress with sparkly Jimmy Choo heels, while her bridesmaids wore stylish prom style frocks. Perfect.

Thanks so much to the brilliant Dan Hough for providing these lovely images.

THE PROPOSAL | we got engaged on Alex's birthday which was also the opening ceremony of the Olympics - Friday 27 th July 2012. Alex booked a surprise weekend away in Howarth, West Yorkshire. We stayed in a beautiful country house - Ashmount Country House, and just before we were getting ready to go out for our evening meal, he got down on one knee and proposed! We then had champagne in a hot tub, and watched the opening ceremony.

THE VISION | We have both always been interested in shabby chic and vintage so we had an idea of bunting and vintage china, and traditional English flowers in big candelabra's.

As soon as we found Heaton House Farm, Nr Rushton Spencer it was perfect, it was a blank canvas for us to work with so we starting going around flea markets and car boots to collect vintage china and anything that we thought was retro. Our old turtle shell suit case we used for our gift box was a great find! Above all we wanted it to be fun and everyone could get involved in

THE PLANNING PROCESS | Once we had an idea of a budget and help from our parents the first thing was to find the right venue, we looked at a few but Heaton House Farm really did tick all of the boxes for us. After that we started working on finding the right look, so the dress, the bridesmaid dresses, the right flowers, it all had to come together to go with our theme.

BUDGET | Our budget was around 15k.

THE VENUE | Heaton House Farm, it was perfect, everything ran so smoothly from start to finish the whole process and experience with the team was flawless. The huge selling point for us was the view and the main dining room..... wow! the reaction we got from our guests was exactly what we wanted, sheer awe! The room was dressed amazingly it was perfect.

THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | I knew that I wanted something different right from the start, I tried on many dresses but nothing really stood out until I went to Bridal Couture by Josephine in Cheadle, Staffs, they were fantastic and there it was my gorgeous Justin Alexander dress. I matched the dress with gorgeous sparkly Jimmy Choos and the hair piece from Unique in Leek.

GROOM'S ATTIRE | We used Kevin Paul in Hednesford who not only was brilliant and has over 40 years of experience! We went with Navy, and ivory, with a small subtle pin in the neckerchiefs which looked very classy and also kept with the vintage theme.

THE READINGS & MUSIC |We chose Corinthians as our reading as it was about change which is what you go through as a person when you are with a partner, Alex's best man James read it perfectly on the day and was well received by everyone. The music we wanted a mix of live and also a DJ. We chose chuck berry 'never can tell' as our wedding song, and we practised a special dance twist which surprised everyone!! Our band stepping lane was brilliant as well, they did a good mix of both modern and old classics!

BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | We had four Bridesmaids including my Sister Melissa, and my 3 childhood friends which I have known since Primary School. We also had my Cousin's little girl Marcie (10yrs) as our Flower Girl. The bridesmaid dresses looked fab, we had them from the Wedding Shop in Alderley Edge and the Flowergirls dress from John Lewis.

THE FLOWERS | we kept the flowers country vintage style, so we had daisies, English rose, lavender, mint etc which looked fantastic on the day. Our florist was Theresa from Wild Orchid in Walslow. In the church we had 2 x gorgeous Milk Churns filled with flowers and Peonies on the pew ends. At Heaton House Farm, Teresa dressed the room with Candleabas filled with the same flowers, they looked absolutely fantastic.

THE CAKE |Jo from Jo's Cakes in St Edwards, St Leek did a fantastic job of making our cake, which was a 3 Tier Cake with a birdcage for the top tier. We also added cupcakes made by one of our Bridesmaids and also fruit cake made by our friend.

YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | Our photographer was Dan Hough, as soon as we saw Dan and his work we knew he was the man for the job. Dan was good fun, laid back and was just very natural in the ideas he had. Dan and his partner Lora went above and beyond on the day to get the best out of everyone, and we are so pleased with the end result of our pictures. And the flash booth, people are still talking about it now, it was brilliant!! Nobody expected the end result to be a video!!

THE DETAILS & DÉCOR | We wanted to make sure every detail was taken care of, right from the start to finish, the flash booth to keep guests entertained, and a sweet stand to keep the kids quiet!! We wanted it all to flow from start to finish. The vintage china and other bits we provided ourselves, bunting, milk churns, china etc, the rest either the florist helped us with, or the venue staff. They did a fab job of creating our vision of what we wanted, and surpassed it as well.

THE HONEYMOON | Was 4 days in Venice which was perfect, we drank Prosecco, had a gondola ride and stayed in a gorgeous 16 th century hotel in the Jewish quarter. Can't get any more romantic than that!!

MEMORABLE MOMENTS | the speeches were brilliant, both of Alex's best men had the room in tears of both laughter and joy, and Edmund, the father of the bride delivered a very moving, sincere speech which was lovely. The flashbooth was fantastic as well, the different pictures we got was amazing, and the band helped create the vintage feel as well!! The church service was beautiful as well, we got married at St Edwards Church, Cheadleton and Amanda Pike did the service which she did brilliantly, she kept it light, fun and made everyone feel part f the whole service.

ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | Remember everything! It goes by so fast so take it all in, relax, breathe and don't get drunk until you've done your dance!! Make sure you take a few minutes out every so often to talk to each other, you spend so much time talking to other people, remember to speak to each other as well and ask each other how you are.
