Unique Wabi Sabi Wedding Inspiration | Desert Wedding

Unique Wabi Sabi Wedding Inspiration | Desert Wedding

via

When you think of a rustic desert wedding, you think of succulents, sand, and an oh-so-stylish boho couple.

And while this desert wedding shoot does have a stunning bride, in a fab dress (with the most gorgeous braided upstyle!) it also takes its inspiration from the Japanese Wabi-Sabi philosophy.

The work of a wonderfully talented Southwest team of Liz Anne Photography with For The Love Events and Amy Nicole Floral Studio, this unique shoot incorporates minimalist touches, floor seating, natural adornments and earthy tones with a bleak, yet beautiful rustic backdrop.

We'll let the wonderful lady behind the lens, Liz Anne Photography, tell you a little more about the unique concept behind the shoot.

Conceptualized by Amy Gallegos of For The Love Events and Amy Nicole Floral Studio, this Desert Southwest Wabi Sabi shoot came about from a shared appreciation for the Wabi philosophy. Equally, it presented a fun and interesting challenge in how it could be translated into a wedding look. The southwest landscape provided the perfect backdrop, and the location - a sun and weather-beaten 100-year-old adobe structure set in a field of cactus and sage - was the ideal locale to capture the feel and natural beauty of life in its most lovely and fleeting transitory state. Amy kept with a muted, neutral color palette to echo the earth tones of the adobe but in juxtaposition to that the floral palette, created by Amy Nicole Floral Studio, was a simple mix of white poppy and peony, lively green dianthus, native grasses and dried seed pods. Anchored with the opalite carved "egg" at each place setting, the fresh greens and the egg were a symbolic reminder of life (love) beginning anew in the middle of this old structure, literally returning to dust. Detailing and props (some of which were unearthed in the process of clearing the structure!) were kept to an obvious minimum to further accentuate the austere and simple nature of the Wabi aesthetic.

If you're planning a desert wedding, but want something a little bit different, get your pinning finger at the ready...this shoot is just dreamy.

So beautiful, don't you think? I just love her sky blue dress, and paired with the simple white blooms with beads and brown sandals is just so effortlessly cool. As for the decor, I love using stones and driftwood from the setting, such a great idea for anyone hoping to incorporate their backdrop into their big day (and a budget decor idea too!).

And the pistachio cake and macaroons - yum!

Thanks so much to this wonderful team, and of course to the fabulous Liz Anne Photography for sharing this heavenly shoot.
