If you swung by the blog a couple of weeks ago then you'll have read my piece on four beautiful bridesmaid trends that we're loving in 2014. This week we're back and it's the turn of the Bride herself.

Now I know that there are a million and one different trends out there all of which have their own respective beautiful qualities about them so it's been quite hard to pick just four favourites. Somehow I've managed to select the top of the pops for 2014...I wonder how many of you would choose the same...?

We've noticed that two piece trend is a little bit like Marmite; brides either love the versatility of the trend or hate the style with passion. As you've probably guessed Team RMW (and perhaps none more so than myself) have encamped themselves on the 'we love it so we're going to rave about it' side of the fence.

As with any wedding frock 'shape' the key to a sophisticated/elegant/polished look is all in the styling, so when I say that we love the two piece we really mean a very specific interpretation of the look. Less so the over complicated 80's style corset over matching skirt and more of the midriff skimming, luxe material kind of thing.

Granted there's a whole heap of you that would feel a tad uncomfortable about exposing your midsection on your wedding day but for those of you proud to show off your abs or who have opted for a edgy city big day then I urge you to at least take a look at this particular trend.

Other than the fact it looks breathtakingly awesome there's the stark reality that choosing the two-piece means that you really can wear your bridal ensemble over and over again. Slinky skirts can easily be reused for evening soirees - perhaps a special birthday or a black tie ball and beaded camisoles and chic little jackets jazz up your Saturday jeans for brunch with the girls. So if you're trying to weigh up cost per wear then this sartorial option is your best friend.

And my favourite? Definitely this lacy number at the bottom here from Houghton NYC; it's pricey but I adore it.

I'm guessing that the vast majority of you will already be familiar with the 'Dramatic Back' which we'll come onto in a moment but there's a lesser known but equally as beautiful trend that's been raring its head this year. The 'Statement Sleeve' is its name and the clue is in the title.

Be it a lacy three-quarter length, an embroidered cap or a sheer full length number, brides have been falling for the statement sleeve ever since K-Mid sported her own version at Westminster. And I completely understand why. If you're anything like me then you might be a tad 'arm conscious' and opting for this accompaniment on one of the biggest days of your life is the perfect way to combat this body fear.

Whilst the three quarter length lace sleeve is a firm favourite we've noticed the popularity of the cap version increase substantially. Be it delicate beading using pearls, cowboy-esque fringing or ephemeral shaped lace there's something wonderful about a bride in capped sleeves.

Ok so the next trend isn't actually dress related per se but more of an accessories related fad that's gained momentum over the course of 2014. Yes folks it's the Juliet Capped veil.

I'm going to admit something here. Initially I was not a fan of the Juliet. Not a fan at all. Not even when Mossy sported it for her own big day. Or Lily Allen. I'm not really sure that I could give you a legitimate reason why I felt this way...just that I didn't like it and that was that. But something changed for me this year and I'm beginning to be seduced by the Juliet's charms.

I wouldn't say that this particular look is for the shy and retiring bride but rather for the vintage loving girl looking to make a sartorial impact. I have to admit that there's something fun about the Juliet veil and you can be sure as sure that it will stay on your head. On the whole this type of adornment veers on the showy rather than subtle side so I would recommend keeping your hair styling simple and pairing it with either a simple dress or matching the material of your veil to your frock.

And lastly and I'm guessing for the majority of you your favourite... the 'Statement Back'. Whilst not 'new' for 2014, it's most definitely a stayer and we wouldn't have it any other way. There's something quite wonderful about a wedding dress that is equally as breathtaking from the back as it is from the front and I'm always enthralled by those photos that capture the bride retreating from the camera as a newlywed with her frock billowing out behind her.

With so many variations on the 'Statement Back' it's hard to choose a favourite. There's the long 'v' exposed back, the complete lace overlay, the supersized bow, the embroidered panel...I could go on and on.

Personally I see this trend lasting well into 2016 in the main because it flatters all shapes and sizes and because there's so much variety. Again to really maximise the impact of a gown integrating this style I'd recommend sweeping the hair up and away to the nape of the neck to show off any detailing to its greatest advantage.

So there we have it, our favourite bridal trends so far this year.
