Dreaming of the summer breezy beautiful seaside days? Well it's time to indulge in Gemma and Thom's charming summer wedding day.

Gemma and Thom wanted a wedding which was British in feel, country and that included Thom's motorcycle. With the sweetest rustic style décor, there were also pastel hued flowers, bridesmaids in blue and an amazing sunset balloon release.

Gemma looked so gorgeous in her tulle gown with the prettiest plaited hair style, while the boys donned quirky braces and waistcoats. LOVE.

Thanks goes to the incredible Cotton Candy Photography for sharing their delightful imagery today.

THE PROPOSAL | 4 th May 2012. OK it's a bit of a long story so bear with us. In the September of 2011 we'd been on a trip around Italy for Gemma's Birthday. We started in Venice and then went to Verona where we put a padlock with our names and 'Sempre, Dovunque, Comunque' (Always, Anyhow, Anywhere) on the gates of Romeo and Juliet's balcony. We had filmed the whole trip (http://vimeo.com/5564594) and Thom put together the video as a surprise and arranged a trip to the Maldives for the 3 rd anniversary of our first date. On the evening of the anniversary, after a day on the most amazing beach, Thom showed the film which at the end had the message 'Gemma I will love you always, anyhow, anywhere. The only question is, will you say yes?' and the film ended with a shot of an engagement ring with the same saying engraved across it. Thankfully Gemma said yes (after lots of crying!).

THE VISION | Firstly we wanted a unique venue, somewhere different with lots of opportunities for great photos and video (we're both very creative and love working with images and film). We knew we wanted a bit of a vintage feel to the day as well, although it's become a bit of a cliché, I guess shabby chic describes some of the styling elements we liked. We wanted a distinctly British feel and also something that reflected our love for the outdoors and countryside. Thom wanted to have a motorcycle involved somehow as well (he loves bikes!).

THE PLANNING PROCESS | As with most couples I guess we spent a lot of time researching online. We started by trying to find a venue and that was easily the most difficult part. We searched relatively locally to begin with, and then widened the search when we hadn't found anything we thought fitted the bill. We hadn't planned on going as far as Northumberland, but when we went to visit Newton Hall we immediately fell in love with it. When the pianist on the open day was playing one of the songs from our proposal video, we knew it just had to be there. After that things started to be a bit more straightforward, although we had to make a couple of trips up to Northumberland from Hertfordshire. We did most of the planning ourselves, with Thom's Mum taking care of arranging the cake, Thom's Dad sorting the men's favours and Gemma's Mum sorting the ladies' favours. Thom is a designer so he created all of our bespoke wedding invitations, RSVP cards and stationery for the day. Newton Hall have their own catering team so that was taken care of easily (the food tasting was one of our highlights!). We were very lucky to find photographers that we loved the look of (Cotton Candy) and videographers that understood and shared our vision (Minty Slippers). As we both work in the creative industry we thought we were very picky but it turned out that both Cotton Candy and Minty Slippers were amazing.

THE VENUE | Newton Hall, near Alnwick Northumberland.

THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | Mirror Mirror

FINDING THE DRESS | Finding the dress was obviously the best part of the wedding planning, its every girls dream to look like a princess. For me I wanted something that would not only suit the venue but I also wanted a classic style that I could make my own. I think I spent a good 2 months researching before I had even tried a dress on! I created my pinterest board, looked at lots of Bridal mags and of course looked at every dress store online. Then one day I looked on Mirror Mirror's website and there it was ... I knew before I had even tried it on that it was the one....

THE READINGS & MUSIC | Thom loves music very much so this was an incredibly important thing for the day. We had booked the pianist (Paul Bamling) from the open day to play when guests arrived and for the ceremony. For the evening we found a wonderfully talented acoustic duo called Noah who were absolutely incredible. Thom compiled a playlist of some of our favourite music to play throughout dinner as well.

Aisle Music: 'I Giorni' - Ludovico Einaudi followed by 'River Flows in You' - Yiruma

Reading: 'Marriage Joins Two People in the Circle of its Love' - Edmund O'Neill

First Dance: 'A Thousand Years' - Christina Perri (Performed live by Noah)

BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | Finding Bridesmaids dresses to suit 5 gorgeous girls who are all different shapes and sizes in a style and colour they all like was actually surprising easy! I found Kelsey Rose dresses in a Bridal magazine and sent some ideas to the girls and luckily they loved them and so did I.

THE FLOWERS | Inspired by a country theme and additions of lace and pearls for a vintage feel.

THE CAKE | Beautiful vintage fondant fancies in pastel shades.

THE HONEYMOON | A week in Phuket, Thailand at Indigo Pearl resort.

MEMORABLE MOMENTS | Oooh so many it's difficult to know where to start. The venue was incredible and we were so lucky with the weather. We ended up having a beautiful summer day that just made everything fantastic. Being able to have photos taken down on the beach was amazing. Riding in on the motorcycle was a highlight for Thom, and his Dad surprised us both with a beautiful opera song in the middle of the ceremony. Thom and his parents had also arranged for heart balloons with 'a message of love' tags for all of the guests to release at sunset, which was magical. Gemma's Step Dad's speech was really touching and the reading from Thom's Mum was also very emotional.

ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | Have fun and enjoy every minute! It goes so quickly....If you've done the planning yourself, don't worry about what you haven't done, just concentrate on what you have done so brilliantly.
