Floral DIY: how to create a hand-tied peony bouquet

Written by: louise

Morning lovelies! I have a feeling you're going to like this week's Floral DIY... we're taking the peony loving to a whole new level with this gorgeous hand-tied bouquet! I adore this romantic mix of faded peach with soft white, this would be such a dreamy posy to carry down the aisle.

You will need:

3 coral charm peony

5 white peony (the white peony are often smaller than the coloured variety, so use more!)

String or twine to tie and ribbon to finish

Method:

1. Choose your peony stems carefully so they are open and blowsy but not so open they are about to explode into a shower of petals

2. start with two white peony, add a coral charm peony crossing the stems at the point you are holding them and keep adding stems in a spiral to create a mixed cloud of white and coral

3. Tie the stems tightly otherwise the ball will fall apart, cut the stems to an even length

4. Choose your ribbons to complement or clash

Wrapped with some simple brown paper or tissue, this will make a beautiful thank you gift or a stunningly fragrant bridal bouquet

Top Tip:

The coral peonies in particular have an interesting trait in that their colour fades with age - they can go from strong vibrant coral to pale, washed out salmon in a matter of days - and a bunch of 10 never fade at the same rate!!
