Yellow Daisies For A Pretty Summer Wedding.

Yellow Daisies For A Pretty Summer Wedding.

This week seems to have flown past and we've got ANOTHER bank holiday this weekend! Hooray!! I do hope you are all either getting married, attending a wedding or devoting the time off work to planning! Isn't May just the best month?

This morning's wedding is a very pretty, home spun affair. Lauren & (Bradley Cooper's long lost brother)* Ross were lucky enough to marry at the church Lauren had attended as a child with school.

It literally looks like THE most idyllic English countryside location and the sun shone down on them for the whole day.

Their ceremony was held at Lauren's parents beautiful farm house. Again, idyllic English countryside springs to mind.

Yellow is a colour that I absolutely love - the gorgeous pale yellow hue of Lauren's maids gowns is so pretty and the sunshine yellow daisies and tulips couldn't be more perfect for a summer wedding.

I love how Lauren's Blue by Enzoani gown falls too, creating the most beautiful silhouette and the addition of a slightly boho headband keeps her look relaxed enough to match the day. And what a wonderful day it looked...

* I can't be sure that Ross is ACTUALLY Bradley Coopers brother...but lets just go with it.

Lauren The Bride: I always thought it would be such a nightmare trying to find my perfect wedding dress as I can be extremely indecisive, but I found my dream dress in the second shop I visited on a spur of the moment shopping trip into Newbury with my mother. I knew I didn't want anything fussy, but a dress that was simple yet elegant.

Laura, the owner of Mrs Jones Bridal understood that and picked out the perfect dress! It had no glitz, but such intricate detailing especially around the bodice where the lace from the skirt subtly crept up, as if it were like vines growing up a wall. The design of the lace and cut of the dress was so beautiful, it didn't need anything sparkly.

I chose to have a long veil that came just past the train of the dress, which gave even more of an elegant touch. I finished this off with a head wreath, made out of white silk and dried flowers. I thought this was a nice way to give a slight bohemian feel and keep in with the country garden theme.

My jewellery was kept to a minimum as I didn't want anything to overpower my dress. I wore a delicate gold necklace that had a tiny daisy pendant, small tear drop gold earrings and my Grandmas ring, which she gave me on my 21st birthday. My shoes were open toe in a lovely nude that had very subtle, tiny gold studs dotted around them, and the heel was a metallic rose gold colour.

My husband decided to have a tailored 3 piece suit rather than the traditional top hat and tails. He decided to go for a medium grey colour that worked really well with the yellow colour scheme. He paired this with a crisp white shirt that had the date of our wedding subtly embroidered in yellow on his left sleeve. The lining of his suit jacket and tie was also very pale yellow to match the colour of the bridesmaid dresses; this gave his suit more of a summer look. He finished his suit off with a silver pocket watch.

We were married in the beautiful St. Stephen's Church in Baughurst. This church holds such special memories for me as my Primary School used to hold their Carol Concerts there every year. For the reception, we were very lucky to be able to have this at my parents. Due to them living in an old farmhouse, they have plenty of land and a nice big garden where were able to have the marquee. It's somewhere I have always imagined holding my wedding reception and thankfully my husband loved the idea! It gave such a personal touch to our wedding day, and made the feel of the wedding so much more relaxed.

Due to our wedding being in the summer, and the theme being Country Garden, we decided that a pale yellow would reflect this perfectly. It's such a happy colour and not one that you tend to see at weddings. Most of the decorations in the marquee were handmade by my wonderful friend/bridesmaid Victoria Avery, who is the creator of Creative And Contemporary. We wanted all decorations to have a rustic, fun, handmade look with lots of personal touches and Victoria captured that perfectly in her creations.

For favours my husband and I thought it would be a nice idea to make them ourselves to keep in with the homemade theme. I made small jars of lemon curd for the ladies, labeled 'handmade by the Bride' and my husband made small jars of pickled quails eggs for the men, labelled 'handmade by the Groom'. We also made up little bags of sweets for each table setting labeled 'love is sweet'.

The running theme for all the flower decorations was daisies. We thought they were the perfect flower to give a rustic, country garden feel and they fitted into our yellow and white colour scheme perfectly! For my bouquet, I wanted it to look as if I had just picked my flowers from the wild. Our florist did an excellent job in creating this.

The Bridesmaids had wild daisy bouquets, tied with raffia and the ushers had daisy buttonholes. My husband's buttonhole was made up of the same flowers incorporated in my bouquet. The pew ends at the church were decorated with daisies and at the alter the flowers were a mixture of yellow and white with a touch of purple and blue to add a splash of colour.

My beautiful Bridesmaids wore floaty, strapless maxi dresses in a very pale yellow, to keep in with the colour theme and style of the wedding. They wore their own choice of jewellery, apart from my maid of honour, who I bought the same daisy necklace as mine to wear, to add a subtle special touch.

The Ushers wore suits in the same colour and material as my husband's along with the matching pale yellow ties. My husband also bought them all pocket watches, which they wore on the day.

My Father-in-Law is a fantastic bag piper and used to play in the Scotts Guards, so we decided it would make such a wonderful touch if he played Amazing Grace as the Bridesmaids walked down the aisle. My cousin Georgina, who was also a Bridesmaid and is a wonderful singer, then sang the first verse of Amazing Grace with no backing, as I walked down the aisle with my father. Georgina also sang O Mio Babbino Caro during the signing of the register. Due to my husband being a BIG Foo Fighters fan, we had the acoustic version of Everlong play as we walked back up the aisle together. Having all these personal touches throughout our marriage, made it that extra bit special to us.

My husband and I love going to festivals and gigs to see live music, so we really wanted to incorporate this into our wedding. Because of this we wanted to avoid having a DJ, so instead we had a number of live bands and musician play throughout the day and evening. During the drinks and canapé reception which were held outside, we had The Aldbrickham Band perform folk music in the orchard. This created such a fun, happy, joyful atmosphere for everyone and really set the ambiance for the rest of the day.

While coffee was served after the wedding breakfast we had the incredible voice of Chris Ryder perform an acoustic set of his own songs for everyone, just him and his guitar. Chris is also a friend of my husbands, so he knows his love for the Foo Fighters and surprised him by singing one of their songs, which was so special and thoughtful.

To then get everybody in the mood for our 'cocktail hour' and kick start the evening off, we had the fantastic Rock band JettBlack perform an acoustic set of their own songs. They are such a talented band who had everyone off their seats and ready to party!

The band we chose to get everyone on the dance floor was Stone Gecko. They covered a wide variety of musical genres from 1950s to present day, with a strong emphasis on rock & party classics, which was exactly what we wanted. No one could stop dancing from the moment they started until their last song.

Our beautiful cake was made by my very talented Auntie Jen. It was a 5 tier cake that was decorated with lots of small, white flowers, made of icing, which cascaded down the cake. It reflected our garden theme wedding perfectly. The flavors of the different tiers were Red Velvet, chocolate, Victoria Sponge, and the traditional Fruit Cake.

The canapés at the drinks reception were Potato and Spring Onion Cakes with Smoked Salmon, Mini Yorkshire Puddings with Roast Beef and Horseradish Cream & Tomato, Mozzarella, Pesto and Basil Brochettes. For the wedding breakfast, to start we had, Avocado, Walnut and Goat's Cheese Salad, served with Ciabatta Bread, Olives and Dipping Oil with Balsamic Syrup. This was then followed by everyone's choice of pie. We loved the idea of 'Pie and Mash' as our main as it's a true English favorite. The choices were, Chicken, Leek and Parsley Pie, Steak and Ale Pie or Devilled Mushroom Crumble as the vegetarian option. The pies were all served with Colcannon Mashed Potato, Carrots and Sautéed Courgettes, with a big jug of gravy for each table. For desert we chose to have Suzan's prize winning Lemon Tart with Fresh Raspberries and Creme Fraiche. During the evening instead of serving another meal, we put on a big spread of cheese, chutneys, biscuits and the sliced wedding cake.

We couldn't have chosen a better photographer than Nick Rutter, I really can't praise him enough! Nick is such a professional, who managed to capture everything and more from our wedding. It was important to us that we didn't have the standard, uniformed wedding pictures, but more natural creative ones that reflected the feel of our wedding day...Nick did just that! He chose such fun, quirky locations while also managing to capture everything at the perfect moment. My husband and I thought it would feel really awkward posing to have our pictures taken, but Nick never once made us feel like that. Every time I look at our wedding pictures it fills me with such joy and takes me right back to our special day. We couldn't have asked for anything more.
