Flamingos and fun farm wedding

Written by: louise

What do you get when you choose a gorgeous farm wedding venue, a fabulous team of wedding suppliers and a bride & groom with a sense of humour? A stunning day filled with beautiful flowers and details, stunning outfits, a to-die-for cake from Peggy Porschen and flamingos; what else?! Stephanie and Tom's contemporary classic wedding was filled with fun touches - did I mention the flamingos? - and understated style. I'm adoring the sweet peach & mint colour palette with fun polka dot and chevron touches! Beautiful photography from a b.loved fave, Dasha Caffrey.

We met as students working at the same summer job between University semesters; we were together for 10 years and living together in London. I came home from work on our 10 year anniversary to rose petals strewn throughout our home, and candles spelling out 'will you marry me?' and Tom down on one knee with Champagne. I said yes... We got married at St Peters Church in Hascombe, Surrey which is the most beautiful church I have ever seen. We attended the church regularly before the wedding and got to know the people in the community who were exceptionally warm and welcoming. We couldn't have imagined being married anywhere else. For the reception we moved to Rumbolds Farm in Plaistow which is a working Stud Farm with a beautiful barn and gardens. We chose this venue as they only host 10 weddings a year so it didn't have the 'wedding factory' feel that some similar venues had. We had access to the venue for a whole week before the wedding so we had lots of time to decorate and make things just the way that we wanted them. It was completely private and relaxed which appealed to us. My dress was by Suzanne Neville and called 'Gracie'. Most of all I loved my Mum's reaction to it when I first tried it on and the way I felt in it. I was completely comfortable and felt that it fitted perfectly. Suzanne herself measured me which was really special. It is a true 'once in a lifetime' dress and I knew I would never get another chance to where something so incredible. The bridesmaids had pink dresses from Dessy and the groomsmen wore navy suits with pink polka dot ties. I found so much inspiration on Pinterest!! And also through my job which involves looking at lots of Bridal magazines and wedding blogs. Our big illuminated 'S&T' came from www.vowedandamazed.co.uk. The Flamingos that paraded around the lake came from www.getflocked.com Wild at Heart in Surrey created all of the bouquets, buttonholes and church arrangements which we kept very simple and classic. For the reception flowers Tom and I went to the Covent Garden Flower Market very early in the morning a couple of days before the wedding and chose just whatever flowers we liked, peonies, roses, hydrangeas, sweet peas etc. My best friends Leigh Montague and Rebecca Rudman then created all of the table arrangements in the barn on the day before the wedding while dancing around, chatting and laughing. I don't know what I would have done without them! We chose Dasha Caffrey as we loved her work and style, I had met her previously through my job and felt relaxed and comfortable with her. We felt it was really important to choose somebody who we liked and got on well with, as you spend a lot of time with them on the day, so Dasha was perfect for the job.
