André + Yzane's Wilderness Wedding

via

Wedding Friends aim to get brides who dare to be different and who seeks to inspire. We recently came across just such a bride and we are so excited to share this wedding with you today. The wedding of André and Yzane. A beach wedding is not a new scene to the inspiration list, but the way this couple executed their wedding made it completely original. The day was captured by the super spontaneous and talented Hayley from Hayley Takes Photos. Hayley really portrayed the couple's personalities and her images tells you exactly how awesome Yzane must be. Yzane planned and did everything in this wedding herself and she said that she would never have done it differently. Enjoy this lovely and joyous wedding with us!

I Propose | Elaborate on how the two of you met or on how the proposal went down.

André and I went to school together. Smile and wave was about it! André's version, she smiled with intentions! (laughter). We had a brief encounter years after school, both of us felt as if we should be together, but life stepped in and we didn't see each other after that day. About five years thereafter he looked me up on Facebook and invited me for a coffee. The rest is history. We both realized early on that this was a fit and kept at it, and what a blessing this relationship turned out to be.

Bride & Prejudice | Express some memorable experiences you had during the planning.

When André mentioned that he thought it was time to get married, I secretly opened a file on my computer called "The Idea" not wanting him to see me being too over excited before he pops the question. Well lets just say that out of "The Idea" came The idea! Beach wedding it would be, seeing that both of us love the ocean and we were willing to have streetwise two's out of boxes for dinner if it meant we could do it on the beach. The biggest and best part of the planning was the house we rented on Wilderness beach, spectacular. We would have a small intimate wedding, sharing only with the people we hold close. Having all the family and friends staying in the house meant excitement helping hands and a one-day wedding turned into a weekend wedding. Bliss!!

My Fair Wedding | Describe an event that you feel was unique or even funny.

Seeing that we stay in the North West province and the wedding took place in Wilderness I had to plan this wedding over the internet. There were bound to be misunderstandings. The biggest out of all was the wedding cake. I'm not a traditional bride in any sense of the word so originally I didn't want a wedding cake. Till my grandmother aged 90 said that she can't imagine a wedding without a wedding cake. So to please this old heart I decided to have a wedding cake, but it must be plane and spectacular at the same time. I found this beautiful picture on Pinterest, found a lady revered to as the Cake master of George. Endless explanations on size and width and height all to the tee. Well lets just say the day we went to collect this lady, bless her heart decided that it would be a waist to have such a beautiful cake just for the show that it should be enjoyed by all, and by all I mean from the car guard right trough to the neighbors all around for two weeks to follow after the wedding. A monstrosity of a cake came out of this. Something out of Charlie's Chocolate Factory. My mothers face was priceless being a lady of epic taste. The rest of us had such a laugh and tried to save the situation by adding ribbon and shells.

Don't Tell The Bride | Reveal something that happened behind the scenes.

Behind the scenes there were moments of anxiety. The permit to get married on the beach was only granted the day before the wedding! The starters never saw the light of day and the DJ bailed which left my brother to step in and save the day, which in the end turned out to be even better party than we could have hoped for.

No More Wedding Woes | Share your wedding advice for future brides.

Keep calm and carry on. Remember this is your day, don't freak out if all is not as you want, remember the guest have no clue of what should have been on the tables of what is missing from the bouquet of flowers you handpicked and pre-ordered out of Europe. People forget what they saw, but people remember how they felt. So keep the atmosphere light and filled with love. That was the key to my successful day.
