Pretty Pink DIY Travel Inspired Wedding | Whimsical Wonderland Weddings

Kelly and Ben chose one of the hottest days on the summer for their pretty pink travel inspired wedding day. The sunshine was glorious and the evening party was even moved outdoors.

They had guests bring along scrumptious cakes and fish and chips for the evening, while the meal was carved at the table. Much of the day was a DIY effort, with gorgeous bunting, tea cups and luggage tag décor.

Kelly's dress looked so amazing, I adore the delicate jewellery on the back of the gown; while Ben opted for a dashing Hugo Boss suit. Just so divine.

Thanks goes to the wonderful Lucy G Photography for sharing her images with us today.

Headpiece and birdcage veil - homemade using a lace appliqué, some beads, felt, a headband, some silk thread, some Russian netting, some hair grips and a glue gun! I had no idea what I was doing, and improvised completely! Was pretty pleased with the results - especially as I had a quote for one for £210! Mine cost £20!

Shoes from Next. Earrings - Tiffanies. Bracelet - Debenhams.

I walked down the aisle to a piano version of Hoppipolla by Sigur Ros, and we had two first dance songs - Everlong (Accoustic) by Foo Fighters and In Paris by Jay-Z and Kanye!

We also wanted to capture the day by video, but budget restraints meant that we couldn't afford a professional videographer. I am a Media and Film teacher so figured... I teach teenagers how to make videos for a living, why not get them to help?! So I contacted two of my most talented and favourite ex-students (who are now at Uni studying media production) and got them to make the video. The lads did an amazing job.... and it was even more special because it was more personal.

Wedding Breakfast - Tuck in for the main meal. Each table was assigned a carver, who had a chefs hat/apron and had to carve the meat. All of the trimmings we on the tables, and everyone had to, well, tuck in! For dessert we had cream tea! The teacups were filled with tea and scones were brought around on vintage china cake stands. Evening food - Fish and Chip van! Who doesn't like fish and chips?

Ceremony - We put a programme of the day and a 'who's who' guide on each chair. At weddings people always wonder who the groomsmen/bridesmaids are, so I made a little guide, with fun facts about each person on. E.g. Amy is my sister and enjoyed removing the heads of my barbies when we were younger! I had more compliments about these than anything else!!

Table décor - Due to the tuck in there was not room for centre pieces, so I collected 78 vintage teacup trios, and used these to bring colour and style to the stables. Each person was given a teacup with his or her nametag attached. Table numbers - the tables were names after cities we have visited. On the back of each of the signs we put details of when we visited there, and a funny anecdote form each place. Table plan- A vintage looking map (actually a piece of wrapping paper from paper chase). Brown luggage tags were used for the table details. Favours - We did not give favours, but instead donated money to a children cancer charity

Cake table - we had several glass cake stands, and two battered old brown suitcase to create some height for the main cake. Guest book - we used two glass jars and asked guest to either write us a message that "just can't wait" which we read the next day, or a message to put in a time capsule. We have it hidden upstairs and will read all of those messages on our first anniversary! Bunting - handmade by my mother-in-law, her best friend and myself. It took us 7 hours to make over 200 feet!

And after the wedding diet, the cheeseburgers were very welcome!

Advice for Other Couples... Get creative!! It is amazing the results you can get with a gravy jar, a glue gun and some 30p ribbon from the market! Also, my wedding was planned with military precision, but things will go wrong on the day. Just roll with it and enjoy it!
