Spring 2014 | Dress for the Wedding - Annapolis Wedding Blog for the Maryland Bride

I'm probably not the first person to tell you this: but this winter on the East Coast was something else! All of those record-setting low temperatures and serial snow days left me with a new appreciation for spring. I truly can't wait for warmer weather and pretty pastels to take over my wardrobe once again. The mere thought of wearing these soft sorbet colors is sustaining me now, so it's no surprise that I've chosen them as my focus for my Bayside Bride spring style inspiration!

I think this pink peplum strapless is the sweetest dress! The style is so perfectly preppy. To contrast with the pastel pink, I paired this with navy, lavender, and purple accessories. I can picture this for guests to wear to springtime weddings, or as a lovely bridesmaid dress, but I'd also recommend it for a bride-to-be to add to the collection of dresses she'll need for all the events she attends. This feminine style would make a standout dress at a bridesmaids' brunch or engagement party, wouldn't it?

Spring and summer are full of more relaxed daytime weddings and receptions. This cotton eyelet dress is slightly casual, but the structured style and embroidered touches dress it up, making it the perfect choice for those laid-back outdoor events. This minty aqua color is still so popular this year and doesn't show any signs of stopping as a trend. I'm sure you've noticed that it makes a fantastic color for beach or bayside wedding parties! Mint looks great alone or with gray, navy, and coral, but for some added brightness, I really love it with these yellow and lime green pieces for contrast and cheer.

This lemon yellow maxi dress is garden wedding perfection! The flower of the month of March is the daffodil, which is why I think this yellow hue is such fun to wear this time of year. This would also make a fantastic beach or destination wedding guest style. The pleats and pastel color make it a lovely choice for brides to wear to pre-wedding events, or as a must-pack honeymoon dress if you're jetting off to warmer climates.

The spring bride can work in pastels to her wedding style as well! For this bridal look I picked a muted mint as the accent color - it has a little more gray and light blue than the mint shade above, but it still counts as good luck as a "something blue" if you ask me! These pale blue touches echo the soft blue of the beach and water on a warm day - very fitting for a coastal Bayside Bride.

Just looking at these colors for spring makes me happy, and the fact that theses spring styles are in stores now, is a sure sign that warmer times are just around the corner! It won't be long until the sun will be shining. And with that, I wish all Bayside Brides a very happy spring!
