A Lanzerac Love Story

A Lanzerac Love Story

via

Western Cape, Stellenbosch, winelands...Need one say more! Today we are featuring the Lanzerac wedding of Janine and Wessels. This stunning couple had a spectacular wedding just outside of Stellenbosch at Lanzerac Wine Estate. With a little splash of yellow, Janine created a creative and balanced wedding. Yellow is a very strong color, yet this bride made it work perfectly. Outside weddings are always a very daring option, but the wedding of Janine and Wessels was picture perfect. The day was captured by Coba Engelbrecht Photography and her images are simply spectacular!

{I Propose} - Elaborate on how the two of you met or on how the proposal went down.

While studying in Stellenbosch, my friends and I decided a girls' night was long overdue. Little did I know I was about to meet the man of my dreams that evening... It was the beginning of a beautiful romance all the while becoming best of friends. So much so, that 5 years later while on vacation in Hermanus, Wessels dropped down on one knee with the most beautiful ring, designed specially for me, and asked me to be his best friend forever. It was a perfect moment in time - even a school of dolphins decided to make their appearance just in time for the celebrations!

{Bride & Prejudice} - Express some memorable experiences you had during the planning.

We decided on a vineyard wedding, and where better than in the Stellenbosch wine lands and also since it has such special meaning to us. We planned for a year to ensure our special day would be everything that we wanted it to be. Friends helped by folding a thousand origami paper cranes, symbolizing good wishes on our future together. We wanted everything to have our own personal touches to it. However, a year never felt so long before - we were literally counting down the days to the 7th of December.

{My Fair Wedding} - Describe an event that you feel was unique or even funny.

Finally our special day was here, which we got to spend with all our close friends and family. Because of the beautiful landscapes of the venue and surroundings, we opted for an outdoor ceremony, as well as an outdoor reception (which is quite brave, I must say). Wessels and I wanted to have an elegant wedding, yet intimate and relaxed at the same time. In short, we had the time of our lives and danced the night away - and the beginning of our lives together - under the cloudless sky.

{Don't Tell The Bride} - Reveal something that happened behind the scenes.

The wrong sized petticoat was delivered with my beautiful lace wedding gown, making my dress just slightly too long and a hazard to step on, but that did not stop me from dancing all night. But the biggest concern was when Mother Nature threatened with a few rain drops right before the reception, but luckily it was just a temporary scare and soon the clouds cleared to make way for a cool summer's night.

{No More Wedding Woes} - Share your wedding advice for future brides.

Like all brides would tell you, enjoy every moment, it literally flies by. Make sure you and your husband take the time to absorb everything as it can be a bit overwhelming. Also make sure that you have a very well planned list of photo's you would like the photographer to take, these are your captured memories. And don't worry about the small things, remember what it is about - it's a very special moment in your life, so enjoy it together.
