Simple Country Elegant Destination Chateau Wedding in Dordogne France | Whimsical Wonderland Weddings

Sophia and James married in August 2013 at a beautiful Chateau in Dordogne, France. They wanted their day to be simple with a country elegance, which was really relaxed.

Their wedding was effortless, with a beautiful location, sunshine and style.

Sophia looked amazing in lace with her hair in a loose wavy up do while the bridesmaids wore pretty green dresses and James donned Hugo Boss. There were delightful florals, sweet little ones and delicious food.

Thanks so much to the brilliant M&J Photography for sharing their photographs with us.

The Venue... 'Marry Me In France's' most beautiful Chateau in the Dordogne, ' The Fairytale Chateau' - we had a lot of friends and family travelling in from all over the world and we managed to have quite a lot of them in to the venue to stay for 3 nights. There was a big dormitory at the top of the house for the older kids which they loved, as well as separate cottages and swimming pools on the grounds. It had a breath-taking view of the valley, a beautiful family kitchen, gorgeous rooms and a lovely barn where we held the wedding breakfast - it was perfect for us and as soon as we saw it, we knew it was the right place!

Annemarie in Morgan Davies was excellent though, she was so lovely and listened to the kind of thing I wanted and I tried on several dresses. I found a gorgeous dress but as I didn't want strapless she suggested a lace overlay 'top' which was made to go over it - there were quite a few styles of this to choose from and each completely transformed the dress, it was hard for me to pick the one I ended up with... No other shop made any kind of suggestions like that to customise a dress specifically for me, but it transformed the dress and it is worth thinking about doing.

I got the earrings from Notonthehighstreet, the necklace from Goldsmiths and the pearl ring is my late mother's. A friend kindly lent me her veil - I wasn't going to have one until I tried hers on and loved it! I don't think I would have had one had it not been for my lovely friend.

Readings were done by our siblings and we had first "Union" by Robert Fulghum read by James' sister followed by the poem "Natural History" by E.B White (the author of Charlotte's Web).
