Lauryn & JQ's Effortlessly Stylish Engagement Shoot

This morning we talked about engagement shoots - whether you're having one and if so if it should be 'styled' or 'au naturel'? As big fans of engagement shoots at b.loved HQ (and one of the few UK wedding blogs who regularly feature them!) we think they should be all about capturing your style, whether that means a full-on shoot production, or something a little more low-key! This afternoon we're embracing the relaxed and natural option with UK film photographer Aneta MAK { read more about Aneta here} who's work I totally, and utterly adore. With insanely stylish bride-to be Lauryn herself a photographer and all-round international lady of style, and this shoot simply speaks for itself.

I'm a "third culture kid" - I was born in Germany and grew up in Indonesia, Hong Kong, Singapore and New York. I'm a travel and lifestyle photographer, love cooking and baking (and pushes it all JQ's way for it to be eaten!), good coffee, being outdoors, gardening (with varied success) and interior design. JQ grew up in Singapore, and we met in New York. He is a pencil-pushing civil servant, who happens to work for a secretive international financial organisation in Switzerland (where both of us are currently based). At least that. JQ lives to eat, and loves spending a chill afternoon staring into space (nice open spaces that would be useful additions to my portfolio, of course!) We met at New York University in 2004, through a mutual friend, and got engaged 8 years later. JQ ambushed e at home. "Look out the window, the stars are really bright tonight," he said. When I opened the window, JQ was there in position, on bended knee with the ring, partly obscured by a large fern. We got married last year in September in Singapore. We had gotten engaged in 2012 and moved to Switzerland for JQ's job later that year. We weren't exactly expecting to plan a wedding from half the world away but are glad to have it work out well. Since we unexpectedly moved away somewhat suddenly, we were really looking forward to see friends together under one roof. We were extremely touched to have friends fly in from all over the world, some that we see somewhat regularly and some less so because of distance. At the end of the night, the good company was what mattered most to us. It's truly a once in a lifetime experience. I think of it often and it always leaves me warm and smiley.
Have today's posts helped you decide your engagement shoot style? Styled or not, we'd love to hear from you, or even see the results!
