The Bride Diaries. Katy's DIY Lego Save The Dates | Whimsical Wonderland Weddings

This month Katy has been getting so much ticked off of her wedding planning list, but today she is sharing her fantastic Lego save the date stationery. Katy, they look amazing :-) So much fun XOXO Lou

So today I am writing and it is exactly 7 months til our wedding... WOW! Time is flying by so quickly, I can't quite believe it.

I'm very happy to report (for my own sanity) that we have a lot more planned now - we have booked a band. A great band (hopefully) who will play our first dance and all sorts of other music we love. I've ordered my wedding dress! (I definitely didn't think I'd be saying that... it seemed like I would never choose one!). We have confirmed a caterer, we've booked our honeymoon (EXCITED!!), we have bought a lot of second hand tea cups... and lots more. All in all I feel like we are much more organised!

The main thing we have done this past month is our save the dates. We were both pretty excited about them as they were fun to do and they really make it official - people are saving the date now, you have to plan a great wedding!

Being a graphic designer I am going to put a lot of thought into the invites and stationery for the day (there is a lot of pressure to make sure they're good!) but I didn't want to have to decide on the style of it all now. After deciding many of our ideas to create a video or stop frame animation would be too much work, we thought we'd put to use a bride and groom lego set we bought in the US last year. So we decided to use the save the dates to have a bit of fun and play with lego.

I wanted the front of the card to be us as we are now, and then you open it and there we are in exactly the same place but our clothes have changed and we are wedding ready. So that's what we did! I set up my camera on a tripod, we had a little lego photoshoot - and with a bit of photoshop work later (and a favour from a fantastic printer friend of mine) we had 85 lovely cards to send out to people.

We also had a bit of fun creating some other photos -

Me throwing the bouquet
Our first dance
and then everyone at the end of night after a few too many ciders (Yoda is the only survivor).

Hopefully we'll find some way to include the lego on the wedding day too. Now I just have to get planning the actual invites!
