The Little Gold Circle.....

The Little Gold Circle.....

That little gold circle; simple or intricate, set with many stones or few, diamonds or gems, any which way, it'll mean the world to you. My husband proposed with a beautifully delicate 'love-me-knot' ring, and we then spent the next month searching for 'the' ring. I knew I wanted something unusual and original, but I was so concerned with choosing something that I'd like forever and that would always suit me. We eventually chose from the beautiful, Jerusalem based designer Artemer. We took one look at the clean elegant lines and dainty, yet statement shapes of his rings and fell head over heels. You can read more about our love of his stunning work here. Don't be fooled though, it might sound like a simple process, but before reaching my ring-buying destination, I scoured the Internet for hours gazing lovingly at alternative, but timelessly beautiful rings. I thought it was about time I shared some of these astounding designs with you lovely people!

Meet Mociun. A self-proclaimed 'Game of Thrones' lover, Caitlin Mociun is in her own little fantasy world; and thank goodness for that. Based in Brooklyn, New York, Caitlin has taken her love for the weird and eclectic, and channeled it into the most astounding line of jewelry. A key player in the indie wedding industry, Mociun breaks away from employing diamonds alone, adding precious stones to create simply awe-inspiring designs.

The ring above, a firm favourite of mine, comprises of 14k yellow gold, with a central focus on its square cut turquoise, surrounded by six antique princess cut diamonds and then 2 antique baguette diamonds at the outer-most points. It's a statement all right, and a gorgeous one at that!

Mociun seems to really dig turquoise, and we're not about to argue with her. The stone's opaque bright hue seems to really enhance the facets of the white diamonds, making them seem all the sparklier. The ring above was a real contender in my search for the perfect set. The perfect alternation of the round cut diamonds with triangles of turquoise... it's just bohemian goddess in a ring! But little fingers beware; this ring is 15mm long, which might overwhelm those possessing more slender digits.

...And the turquoise goes on. The Moon and Stars ring (top image), sees a 14k yellow gold band endorsed with a row of round turquoise moons sitting above a row of starry round, antique white diamonds. It's the perfect nod to this summer's astrology trend, with a magical notion that'll last a lifetime. The second design is a divine solution to the indecisive lady. I reckon decision-making would be made a helluva lot easier if all engagement rings possessed this double stone design. Go from diamond to turquoise in a heartbeat! C'est parfait!

Now, this one's killer. The best part of a quarter carrot of Oregon sunstone, shadowed by a crescent moon of black diamonds, sat perfectly upon a micro pave band of black diamonds. It's wonderfully sultry and mysterious and quite simply like nothing I've ever seen before. Show the simple white diamond where it's really at with this bold, sophisticated piece.

And if I haven't shown you enough, Mociun makes a beautiful range of etched gold bands for guys and girls. I'm pretty convinced their Pagan, almost rune-like markings would make and bohemian girl's heart beat. We love them.

Next up, meet the awesomely named brand, Digby + Iona. As a child, the brand's owner, Aaron was 'fascinated with the idea of stumbling upon hidden treasures and unearthing ancient relics' and his handmade creations certainly express that fancy. Dainty micro paved diamond bands, gold delicately etched with chevrons and scallops combined with unusual diamonds, such as the trillion (above) and black coloured stones make for heirloom style pieces with a distinctive edge.

To round up this glorious selection of designers, we're gonna take a look at Satomi Kawakita. A New York based designer, Satomi is a professional diamond setter and my gosh are we in LOVE with her designs. Combining an organic feel with exceptional craftsmanship, we'd choose one of these beauties over a Tiffany any day of the week!

Throughout the world of design, a trend that's quickly spreading is that of the hexagon. As the go-to shape for 2014, this six-sided beauty is the hottest thing out there. We'll be posting a 'Ring Story' on our Instagram feed this week that features Satomi's incredible take on this trend. It's a timeless design that embraces the shape of the moment perfectly.

One of the many intriguing aspects of Satomi's style is that she creates such original styles using, in many instances, simply round cut diamonds. Whether she chooses a rose cut stone, creating a softer glow to the diamond, or arranges a selection of smaller round cuts into dynamic lines; Satomi's creations are off-the-chart gorgeous.

Available in various finishes, including rose gold and an matte look, as well as possessing other customisable elements, you can really make your Satomi diamond your own; it's that custom made feel, minus half the stress! Ultimately, we think Satomi's work is extraordinary: understated, but stunning and elegant.

These designers are just some of our favourites, there are so many others out there that seek to create unique styles with a rustic, bohemian feel to them. They're exactly what a festival bride needs, and we'd encourage you to be true to yourself in your search, and confident in your style; that little gold circle is all kinds of important!
