Rustic farmhouse wedding in Northern France

Rustic farmhouse wedding in Northern France

Happy Monday! I am buzzing today from working away on the #teamamour photo shoot at the weekend, managing to fit in a lovely countryside walk and dreaming of what the future can hold. Our week is starting with a beautiful farmhouse wedding in Norther France or Nord Pas de Calais to be accurate.
Beth and Tim's story struck a chord with me as soon as I started reading as they got engaged in Rome just like we did many moons ago! It is also an absolute delight to feature a wedding from the North of France, an area that is often overlooked when couples are planning a destination wedding.
But with it's lush countryside and great transport routes from the UK, the North of France is a great option for your wedding.
Groom Tim takes us through their big day: "We both attended the same high school but being in different years we didn't hang out in the same groups, I remember Beth, she maintains she can't remember me! We met again after the passing of a mutual friend and after a few dates we realised we had a lot in common and that we had both found someone we wanted to spend the rest of our lives with.

I proposed to Beth on a weekend break to Rome. I managed to pick an engagement ring out myself (with subtle hints from Beth) and kept it hidden as we travelled to Rome. I remember being worried going through airport security that my case would be searched and the surprise would be spoiled. I had visions of having to propose surrounded by customs officers and holidaymakers, not quite as romantic as the Eternal City. Fortunately the ring stayed hidden, although the location wasn't as grand as I had planned, it was in a little taverna rather than at the Trevi fountain as the sunshine of southern Italy deserted us and we were blessed with rain for our trip.
We knew we wanted a small wedding in a rustic setting, nothing too grand or extravagant. We wanted a relaxed day which we could with close friends and family whilst eating and drinking lots of French food and wine. We chose the location as it was an area where Beth's parents have been going on holiday for years. The first time we went to Wimereux and surrounding area we fell in love with the place, it was just so tranquil and beautiful. When we got engaged it was the first place we thought of as a place to have our wedding. We knew we wanted our wedding our way and something a bit different from our view of a traditional wedding in England. I think the main thing we wanted was for our friends and family to have a good time and enjoy a little slice of French life with us.The staff at La Ferme Du Vert were very helpful and pointed us in the right direction for our French suppliers. Beth found her dress in Hale bridal boutique, Lace, an Anoushka G design and I wore a suit from Reiss. Sam our photographer was recommended to us and she travelled over to France to join us on the day. Sam was wonderful and managed to capture the essence of the day, our wedding images are amazing and we absolutely love them! The ceremony took place in the farmhouse early evening, giving people a chance to explore the local area before joining us. The ceremony was followed by drinks and speeches and then on to a typically French and fantastically good dinner. We then drank and danced late into the night. Our only issues were the slight language barrier. However, Beth speaks good French and those we spoke to whilst planning the wedding spoke some English or were patient with us, they were very friendly and helpful. Our main advice is go for it! France is a fabulous place to get married and has a completely different approach to weddings in this country. There are strict rules if you actually want to get married there that need to be considered, but if you plan for this or have registry wedding here and a blessing in France makes life really easy."
