I love sharing pretty inspiration but every now and then something lands in my inbox which is not conventionally pretty - like today's science-inspired shoot designed & styled by Jennifer Laura Design. Set in an old stamp factory the vibe is more old-school-cool than urban romance, with it's industrial backdrop and science-lab details. It's great inspiration for city brides booking an über-trendy converted warehouse, or loft-style venue (I'm thinking gritty, urban spaces in London's beyond-cool East End or Manchester's industrial districts). There's also lots of great ideas for incorporating non-wedding props into your day - lab flasks become vases and and books become re-purposed into hanging decorations!

Paige of Awake Photography, initially came up with the inspiration for this shoot. She wanted an industrial, science-y shoot that incorporated some school house details. So we got to pinning and came up with this crazy concept to use beakers, test tubes, and some strange looking flowers/plants and hang them from the ceiling. We wanted to create a quirky look and feel. It's not the prettiest of shoots but then we weren't going for pretty - we wanted something a little off the wall and different to appeal to that bride who really wants something a little crazy. The colour palette was blue, red, mustard, and mint. Not a traditional colour combination ...but we just went for it! We shot at the Gribble Stamp Co. which is a 100 year old building in that has tons of cool details on it's own, filled with awesome details and props like old signs and vintage stamps, so we wanted to keep the styling quite clean. We were like kids in a candy store - the biggest challenge was not going too over the top with details since the backdrop had so much going on. We used an old desk, beakers, test, tubes, books and school chairs - anything that lent itself to an old science classroom look! Our florist really got our vision and brought some really bizarre and strange plants and flowers to work with. Again, we weren't going for pretty, but something that was a bit off the wall and scientific looking. Our model was a gorgeous juxtaposition of sweet and soft vintage and hard lined tattoos, so we picked a short 50′s style dress with a slight rock 'n roll vibe in a typically bridal white lace fabric. We went for an old-school makeup look with a bright red lip for a pop of colour. *** Suppliers
