Pretty Pastel Marquee Wedding

Pretty Pastel Marquee Wedding

Tim and Cassie’s wedding was a pretty and elegant affair; classic with a modern twist. I love the pastel colour scheme, from the mismatched bridesmaids to the natural flower arrangements.

Cassie looked gorgeous with her plaited hair filled with blooms while Tim donned a traditional grey Ted Baker suit which looked very dashing indeed. Ohh and spot the rainbow :-)

Thanks so much to the wonderful Kate Gray for sharing her images with us today.

The Proposal… We were on holiday in a log cabin in Devon. Somewhere we had been before, usually to celebrate our anniversary of being together, but this year was slightly different!! I had always wanted to choose my own ring and one day we were out shopping and I found the perfect one, so we got it with the intention of Tim putting it away until it was needed. However, as the sun was setting and the log fire burning that night, he got on one knee and asked if I would marry him.

The Vision for the Day… I wanted it to be vintage themed with a modern edge.

The Planning Process… We got engaged in March and got married 6 months later in September so the planning process wasn’t all that organised! We came home from our holiday on the Saturday and on the Sunday i brought one of my bridesmaid dresses and my two flower girl dresses. The following Sunday I brought my dress during a sample sale at ‘bride to be’ in Reading. Everything just fell into place. We then organised the marquee, the catering and the church so we could confirm the date. Next were the invites. We then started on the smaller details like table decorations, table plans and generally how we wanted the marquee to look. Tim organised his suits and shoes and we all mucked in to do the rest. The 6 months went really quickly and apart from a few stressful moments, we both really enjoyed it.

The Venue… We had a marquee on the grounds of an estate. Lovely surroundings, expertly decorated by Tim and his team of helpers!

Finding the Dress… I tried on lots of different dresses but after trying on the one I bought, I just knew it was perfect and that I wouldn’t find another that was so right for me.

Groom’s Attire… He wore a light grey Ted Baker suit with a white waistcoat and cravat and looked amazing !

The Readings + Music… We had an 8 piece brass band at the church to play me in, they played trumpet voluntary and also played the recessional music. The reading was from Corinthians and was read by Tim’s dad.

Beautiful Bridesmaids… The bridesmaids wore 4 different colours, all pastel shades. Individually the dresses were nice but all together they were beautiful, and fitted our days theme perfectly.

The Flowers… We wanted the flowers to be really natural with the effect that they had been picked from the back garden the morning of the wedding. We also had broaches and herbs like rosemary going through each bouquet.

The Cake… We had 100 cupcakes made. They were 4 different flavours and 4 different pastel colours. The flavours were malteser, lemon, raspberry and white chocolate and vanilla.

Your Photographer… Kate Gray was our photographer and she was amazing. She got so many pictures of the whole day and they are all perfect. We got a really good feel of how the day was for our guests. She just seemed to be in 2 places at once, we couldn’t fault her.

The Honeymoon… We are going to Mexico on 29th October for 2 weeks.

Memorable Moments… For both of us the whole day was amazing, so I guess it was all memorable. It was the best day of both of our lives and one we will remember and cherish forever.

Advice for Other Couples… Our advice would be to try and relax, there is nothing to be nervous about! Don’t sit back and try and take it all in, just get stuck in and enjoy the day as it will fly by.
