Today’s beautiful styled shoot – photographed by Loveridge Photography, with styling + graphics by Hello Friday Event Design – is filled with so much beauty + significance. With a major focus on local + fair trade florals, fare and design elements, the team staged a beautiful boho-inspired celebration, held within the verdant gardens of the lovely Dana Powers House. So many talented artists + vendors came together to bring this idea to life! HumanKind (who provided some of the textiles + decor) is a fair trade shop who supports artisans all over the world by paying them a fair price for their work. It Takes a Bakery (who furnished the yummy cupcakes) is a bakery with the goal of providing jobs to at-risk teens. And that simply stunning lace dress? It was provided by Marcelia of Celia Grace and was handmade in Cambodia by a women’s cooperative. It’s always an honor to feature the work of such creative + generous people. Here’s more about the term “fair trade”, as told by Marcelia:

Fair trade uses the power commerce – your ability to vote with your dollars – to ensure safe, fair, and empowering work conditions and trade relationships with groups in developing countries. Fair trade strengthens social justice, economic development, and environmental protection. And Tina from Loveridge Photography adds, We hope this shoot will inspire brides to tie in a few elements that are not only beautiful, but empower others.

All of the flowers incorporated into the design were of local varietals. Lori Boe Floral Design used a diverse mix of colors + textures to create a fun, whimsical vibe.

The bride’s jewelry is from Lisa Leonard’s fair trade line and each piece was sustainably made by Ecuadorian women. Every time someone buys a necklace or bracelet, Lisa donates a portion to Jungle Kids, which enables kids to attend school in Ecuador.

I just love the layered lace fabrics draped over the reception table…such a pretty look. And the old, rusty bistro chairs, provided by Embellish Vintage Rentals, add an extra dose of charm!
