Friday’s FAB 5 ✈ Black Tie Groom Ideas

via

Our vision for the Coco Chanel inspired shoot this week included a second outfit for both of our models, with the groom wearing pristine black tie: possibly the most handsome option for a wedding. We see so many grooms choosing a tux for their big day, but the problem is that they can sometimes end up looking a bit similar. Here are some black tie groom ideas- ways your man can mix it up and make his ‘wedding look’ personal!

Add Texture

Suit: Brooks Brothers | Bow Tie: My Wardrobe | Shoes: Alibaba

For those wanting to keep it pretty traditional, you can use textural aspects to add interest. Add another element with a textured waistcoat and two-toned bow tie. Patent leather ghillie brogues will definitely jazz up a dull suit… for brave grooms only!

Pop of Colour

Bride &Groom: Boston Avenue Photo Co via The Wedding Co | Cuffllinks: Luisaviaroma | Bow Tie: The Tie Bar

Bright pops of colour add maximum interest with minimal effort. Red is the most noticeable but if you don’t want to dive right in, use a splash here and there with a stripe on your tie and some red cufflinks. Socks in your wedding colours are great too, as above. You can show them off for photos and match the bride, but you won’t have to look at them all day!

Different Shade Tux

Groom: Shane Welch Photography via Style Me Pretty | Navy Tux: Topman | Burgundy Boots: Paul Smith

Black tie doesn’t need to be black- if you want to break away from tradition a bit, try a different shade of tux. Navy is still close to the norm, but it’s slightly less formal. Some might say a little easier on the eye too! Pair with shiny burgundy boots to add even more colour and class.

Go Quirky

Boots: Fly London | Velvet Blazer: New & Lingwood via Lyst | Bow Tie: Knot Theory | Model: Alexander McQueen via Style

Could your groom pull off a velvet blazer? There is something so luxurious yet a little bit out-there about a velvet jacket which I love. Ditch the bow tie altogether and wear a skinny string tie, or try a diamond point bow like the one above to sharpen up the look. Balance this off by dressing it down some with hobo style boots. Did you know you can get button covers to make the buttons of the tux shirt black as on the model? Love!

Friday’s FAB 5

Lovely wedding stuff on the web this week:

✈ Gorgeous bridal hairstyle

✈ Beautiful coral bouquet

✈ Sweet plantation celebration

✈ Divine Spanish styled shoot

✈ Adorable flower girl crown

We were super excited this week as we finally got to share our Coco Chanel inspired photoshoot. The concept was based on our idea of the wedding Chanel herself never had. Part One was based in the luxurious Villa Blanche outside Paris (hands down the most gorgeous place I’ve ever stayed in) and Part Two saw us strolling the streets of Paris, passing the famous Chanel store along with the Eiffel Tower of course! Finally Part Three revealed the video of the shoot by the talented Best Day Productions. Amazing (if we do say so ourselves!) Yesterday we shared our inspiration for the shoot with a black and ivory inspiration board, along with some tips on making and using your own inspiration board for a wedding. And that wraps it up for this week, hope we’ve given you some food for thought over the weekend!
